Want to level up your creative work? Try being responsible for the whole damn thing. For 10 years, I directed the Antelope Dash Trail Races. Design was just one piece of the puzzle. I was also managing budgets, sponsors, logistics, permits, and every unexpected crisis. It completely changed my approach: - Budgets: Concepts must fit reality, not just look cool. - Relationships: Sponsors are partners, not logos on a poster. - Accountability: When things break, you own the solution. Owning an entire project forces you to grow. Looking back at my work from year one compared to year ten, the evolution is night and day. Launch a project where you carry the full weight. Wow! I’m a little late to the party here, but wanted to give a recap of my time in Columbus. This is my second year at Creative South and it didn’t fail to fill my cup once again. There’s so much inspiration, vulnerability and excitement radiating from everyone which can’t help but make me get excited about what’s to come. It was great to see new faces and reunite with past acquaintances. The world’s moving pretty fast, but it was nice to slow down for a minute. The creative family is strong here and we all make each other better. I wish I had taken more photos, but was too busy enjoying everything to the fullest. Thank you to everyone involved in organizing the event. More necks will be hugged in the future! by @samvogelcreative

Got to partner with my design professor and friend @jenvenn on this logo design. The heavily conceptual mark and system come together to be the face for the Kansas Behavior Health Center of Excellence. We worked to convey what the organization does for those looking for pathways into the behavioral health system. T-shirt design for this year’s Antelope Dash! It’s my tenth year as race director and 9th shirt design (no COVID year). One of the most fun things each year is coming up with a new design that pulls from the spirit of the race and is unique to that year. This year’s design pulled from the rock features of the area and played with the color scheme of Wyoming. by @samvogelcreative
