Joining the 2016 trend. A year that truly feels like a lifetime ago. These are a handful of random photos I could find of myself from then (mostly in groups cause I rarely take pictures of myself…). Looking at them gives me a real bittersweet feeling knowing all the ups and downs coming my way. It was before the chaos of the universe took 3 of my childhood friends from this mortal coil in quick succession. It was before I finished my Associates degree or even started my Bachelor’s in “Cinema Arts.” It was before I moved to Georgia and started a new life on my own. So many beginnings and endings contained in but 1 brief decade. The Sam of today is trying harder and harder to hold contradicting feelings and thoughts together and see it all as beautiful. I’ve experienced so much but still feel very behind as a single 31-year-old still scrambling each week for the next paycheck. Life is just so overwhelming and tiresome. But these pictures remind me of the small moments of joy and community I had ALL the way back then, and the many other moments and connections I’ve continued to have along the way. If that much life can happen in 10 years, I ‘spose I’d better buckle up for the next 10, but I hope to embrace it all with acceptance and cherish moments like the ones pictured here. Thank you to all my friends and family for the joy you bring this life. 🫶 by @samwise2425
