Challenge Gdansk - 5th MPRO.

Lots of emotions at the finish, but mostly just relief.
Relief that the work has paid back.
Relief that I was able to focus and execute.
Relief that I made the finish line the best I could.

Lost a minute in the swim. Then rode strong with @simon_davis_ and with the 20m draft zone being enforced constantly on the bike course thanks to @challengegdansk motos everyone had to ride their bikes today and some suffered.

Onto the run and it was funking hot, I don’t class myself as a hot weather athlete, but I somehow managed OK, dropping off a little on the last lap but still running decent. Everyone dropped time on the run than usual. Upwards of 30 degrees. 🔥

The best men won on the day, but I am pleased with where the form is and being able to ride my bike again felt good. Knowing I can smack it at this level and I hope to continue this now for the rest of the season.

Full steam ahead towards my last race of the season
T-3 weeks @challengevieuxboucau 🇫🇷🚂

Last weeks training post Race (20hrs)
*15k swimming
*12 hours biking
*42k running.
+ high intensity across all three
+ pre training s&c thanks to @coach_steve_bannister

This morning:
6x400 off 5:20 turnaround in the pool.

Swimming is a big focus still and @andrew_h_t has pushed me all year on this front! I’ve had my best year of 70.3 Swims, regularly coming out with guys who use to drop me, and being so close to the front I can taste it. Hungry for that next piece of the puzzle 🧩⏳

🥈 Senior Navy
🥉20-24 Overall

Tough race for the Inter-Service and RN Middle Distance champs.
Shocking swim getting battered and considering giving up after the first lap.
Horrid conditions on the bike feeling very flat for the first half but being careful not to come off on a corner.
Solid run off the bike (other than throwing up with 6k to go) one of my strongest ones which was a big goal of the race.
Of course all fuelled by the best in the business @precisionfandh which definitely was better fuel than my undercooked pasta the night before!

Been a while since I finished a race with a smile feeling like I raced well but after navigating a tricky year with @samwordley put together a race I am proud of!

Also shout out to the coach for winning by a huge margin and getting the course right this time.

A good day on the bike at The Vitruvian Triathlon on Sunday.

One of my best overall bike performances.🔥

This one is built on years, and thousands of hours on the bike.

Cycling is more than just how much power you can put through the pedals!
It is how you:
*apply that power out on course
*how stable you are in the aero position
*how you take corners
*your equipment choices
The list goes on.

The Vitruvian Middle Distance 2026 👑

1900m swim - 88km bike - 20.5k run

After a few rocky races since my breakthrough result at Challenge Gdansk back in June, I decided to test the form here. Absolutely loved racing yesterday. I haven’t had much chance to pace a race evenly like that as I only did a few AG races before turning PRO. But after years of having my arse handed to me, I finally won my first Middle Distance race and a course record by some way. Another good one in the bag and I left with a smile, perspective and confidence going into the last race of the season.

Really excited to be Welcoming @samwordley onboard the Performance Team and supporting him on his S&C and Sports Therapy in the upcoming off-season and the 2027 racing season 🤝
