Whats your longest streak? by @sanafamilyservices

In 2024 a study was published discussing the frequency of parent-child interactions. It found a correlation between the child’s age and those interactions.

It is normal for our interactions with children to be reshaped by their stage of development. Every parent will experience a significant shift when their child begins to explore their surroundings. That is when delighting in our child takes a new form. It’s no longer coos, goos, and raspberries.

We begin to engage in redirection; we enter the stage of discipline. Then, when we least expect it they are 4 and you fear their behavior is not allowing them to explore their surroundings or your family to have pleasant outings. Then, they are 6 and we dread hearing the phone ring because it may be the school with another incident report.
That is when fear for their future begins to seep in. #family #toddlerhood #parenting #arizona #adhd by @sanafamilyservices

It’s completely normal for parents to feel a bit anxious about how their older child will adjust to a new baby in the family, especially with all the mixed stories you might come across online. This concern can be even stronger for those who have had some distance in their relationships and want to build a positive connection right from the start. It can feel like there’s so much pressure to “get it right,” which might lead to overthinking your child’s behavior.

Remember to take a deep breath! If your older child seems a bit resistant or even aggressive, it’s often just because they might be having a hard time understanding everything happening around them. It’s a good idea to help them develop some age-appropriate skills before the baby arrives. Think of these as “windows of opportunity” where you can align what they can do with what’s expected, and find small, manageable steps to move forward together.
I wrote about it in more detail on my substack! 🧡. #parenting #family #toddlerhood #arizona by @sanafamilyservices

A heartfelt shout-out to the #grandparents who are always there and make a difference!

If you’ve been fortunate enough to have an extra set of loving hearts in your life, don’t forget to reach out to #Grandma and #Grandpa.

#Parenting can be tough, but grandparents bring a sense of magic and remind us to find joy in our children.

For those grandparents who are no longer with us, continue to engage in loving rituals that honor their memory. This way, we keep them present in our lives. by @sanafamilyservices

In our classes, talk about the circle of security. This idea highlights how important it is for children to explore and be curious about the world, while also acknowledging parents naturally wanting to protect and support them.

Creating a safe space for kids to try new things means responding to their mistakes with kindness, understanding, and curiosity instead of jumping straight to punishment. When children know they can feel safe even when they mess up, they build resilience, develop a growth mindset, and feel comfortable coming to you when things don’t go as planned. It’s all about fostering that trusting relationship. by @sanafamilyservices
