Massive appreciation post and shout out to @acaciaoconnor for hosting the first @sandbox_sessions I have ever attended.

Met some great people, did some fun improv with my acting partner and got out of the house on a Monday night.

Don't pick up my pens when I tell you not too 😂😜 looking forward to the next session.

Thank you for the video @aligregory27 ❤️

Sandbox @sandbox_sessions has a new home at the Cellar Art Club! @thecellartclub @corbanestate

This space is for professional directors and actors to keep their craft sharp and for writers to test out their work in a rigorous way!

First session back:
Monday 20th July 6pm - 9pm

On Monday we will also announce the next iteration of Sandbox - SANDCASTLES!

At Sandcastles, writers will submit a play they are in the process of writing, may have shelved or may be keen to shake up a bit. Actors and directors will get a month to explore the mahi in their own time (you can book the cellar art club for this) and will show 10 minutes in the theatrette at the end of the month!

Cellar Art Club will also host Tuesday and Friday morning body and movement classes to stay fit x

Dm to sign up!
Koha appreciated 🥰
See you Monday!

Thanks to Ockham Collective continuing to run their space at The Nix a wee bit longer, we’ve managed to squeeze in three final Sandbox sessions before The Nix is no more.

Sessions are Sunday, 6 - 9pm on Feb 8th, March 1st and March 22nd.

Sandbox is a place for professional actors and directors to collaborate on scene work and practice their craft in a low-stakes, supportive environment.

We’ve enjoyed support from Ockham Collective since late 2022 with access to free venue space and have run over 50 sessions in their space. Many friendships and collaborations have started there. It really has felt like a home and will be hard to say goodbye.

If you’re keen to have a final play, keep an eye out for the call-out email.

On Sunday we wrapped up our last 2025 Sandbox Session. Directors and actors were invited to use a short scripted scene as a starting point to improvise or keep as close to the script as they saw fit, with four unique and wildly different scenes.

At Sandbox, we have professional actors who have been coming since its beginning and newcomers at each session. It gives actors a chance to try characters they don’t usually get cast in or try their hand at directing. Directors practice their ‘On the day’ skills collaborating with the actors given to them. Occasionally, when directors feel brave enough, we chuck them into a scene too. More than half the scripts we play with are written by someone in the group, so it’s a great way to see a scene on its feet.

Plans are underway for Sandbox 2026. If you want to come play, are a professional / trained / experienced actor or director who wants to stay match-fit, find the link in our bio to join the mailing list.

It was so good to be back at @ockham.collective The Nix space for Sandbox after a few months off.

Thanks to @michele_powles_ for letting us play with an excerpt of her script, and all the adventurous directing choices having us hide under tables, in cupboards and surrounding actors up close.

There are only two more sessions booked for the year. Next one November 2nd by @sandbox_sessions

April’s Sandbox session - thanks to @michele_powles_writer and @aaannarose letting us play with a scene from their feature script.

A full session that had us squeezing into bathrooms and even a surprise drama teacher/student reunion moment.

The next session is Sunday 18 May. Keep an eye out for the call out email this week. by @sandbox_sessions
