I help women with US-based service businesses living and/or traveling abroad take the anxiety out of taxes and stop overpaying the IRS!

POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, I'm Sandra Morno, Tax Strategist and digital nomad.

I have 15 years of experience in taxes and 20 years as an entrepreneur.

Originally from Miami, Florida, but you can find me roaming the world as a digital nomad.

I actually stumbled into working in this industry after helping a friend out while she finished up grad school.

I got an unexpected tax bill from the IRS in 2012 that stressed me all the way out (I call them happy grams LOL).

I promised myself after that bill, I would learn all that I could when it comes to taxes and help others stop overpaying the IRS.

I love numbers and taxes (yeah I said I love taxes) and now focus on working with women running six-figure professional service businesses in the US especially those living and/or traveling abroad.

I help take the anxiety out of taxes and show them how to stop overpaying the IRS!

"I firmly believe that no should be paying more than their fair share in taxes."

As someone living and traveling abroad, I totally understand the journey and that's why I walk with these women all year, teaching them how to strategically manage every dollar their business earns.

We develop personalized tax strategies and plans to help maximize tax savings.

5 Things To Know About Me.

1. I am on what I call my Latin America tour.
2. My goal is to find a home outside the US and be fluent in Spanish.
3. I love listening to music from the 90-2000’s era especially reggae.
4. I love reality shows like Top Chef and anything food related.
5. I am TEAM boycott COLD weather and am all about warmth. Life is too short for layers! LOL

Nice to meet you! 😊 by @sandradphoenix

I had a great talk back in January with Linda Murray Bullard, MBA PMP aka "The Business Plug" and owner of LSMB Business Solutions.

We laughed as we talked about the world of taxes and the some of the craziness that is taking place.

Here is a clip where I share a little bit about myself and the women I support when it comes to taxes.

I came to Colombia thinking I'd explore a little, enjoy the experience, and then move on to the next place.

Well… Colombia had other plans for me.

The longer I stayed, the more I started enjoying the slower mornings, the food, the people, and simply having nowhere to rush.

After spending so many years building a business that allows me to work from anywhere, I'm realizing that freedom doesn't always mean being on the move.

Sometimes it's finding a place you love and allowing yourself to stay a little longer. ❤️

Have you ever visited somewhere and wished you could just stay?

The more I travel, the more I realize how differently people live around the world.

Different cultures, different priorities, different ideas of what a successful life looks like.

And honestly? It's made me question a lot of things I once thought were just “the way life works.”

Not everyone is chasing the same dream, and that's perfectly okay.

I think that's one of my favorite things about traveling. It reminds me that there's so much more to life than the little world we get used to.

What's one thing traveling has changed your perspective on? ❤️

One thing I hear a lot is, “But Sandra, I don't even live in the U.S. anymore!” 😂

And I get it. You've moved abroad, you're enjoying life somewhere new, so why would the IRS still be involved?

Well, here's the surprise… moving abroad doesn't automatically mean you're done filing U.S. taxes.

If you're a U.S. citizen, your tax obligations can follow you wherever you go.

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll owe taxes. But filing and paying are two different things!

Living abroad should be an adventure, not a guessing game with the IRS. 🌎

Did you know this before moving abroad?

After 20+ years of being an entrepreneur, I've learned that being your own boss doesn't always mean having freedom.

There were years when I worked more than I wanted to, constantly chasing the next thing on my to-do list.

But somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't start a business just to spend my whole life working.

I wanted time to travel, explore, and actually enjoy the life I was building.

I'm still figuring it out, but these days, I'm learning to work toward a life I love, not just a successful business. ❤️

Anyone else learning this lesson too?

I’ve always believed that a business should add something meaningful to your life, not take away all the time you have to enjoy it.

I want to grow professionally, do work I’m passionate about, and still have the freedom to travel, spend time with family, and experience the world beyond my laptop.

For me, that’s what building a business with purpose really means.

Earning money in another country doesn’t mean it falls outside the U.S. tax picture.

If you’re a U.S. taxpayer earning income in pesos, euros, or another foreign currency, that income generally still needs to be reported in U.S. dollars.

The IRS requires foreign earnings to be converted using the applicable exchange rate when preparing your tax return.

So, whether you’re earning at home or abroad, make sure you understand how your income should be reported.

One of the things living in Latin America has inspired me to do is finally take my Spanish learning seriously.

I wanted to connect more with the people around me instead of depending on English or pretending I understood every conversation! 😂

Learning a new language as an adult definitely keeps me humble. Some days I surprise myself, and other days I realise just how much practice I need.

But I’m enjoying the process. It’s not about getting every word right; it’s about making an effort and embracing a new experience.

Tag someone who’s learning something new, too!

Over time, I’ve realized that a fulfilling life has very little to do with having more things. ❤️

I value the freedom to travel, spend time with people I love, enjoy new experiences, and do work that gives me purpose. Those are the things that make life feel rich to me.

I want to build a life I genuinely enjoy, not just one that looks successful from the outside.

After more than 17 years in the tax industry, one thing has become very clear to me: being proactive makes a real difference.

Good tax strategy isn’t just about filing everything correctly when the deadline approaches. It’s about understanding your finances, looking at your options, and making informed decisions throughout the year.

A little preparation can go a long way. If you want a more intentional approach to your taxes, let’s connect!

Some experiences stay with you long after the trip is over.

For me, traveling is about more than visiting new destinations. It’s the conversations, the unexpected discoveries, the beautiful views, and the little moments that make each place special. I feel lucky to keep adding new chapters to my travel story.

Here’s to seeing more of the world and making memories along the way.
