My abstract paintings are visual conversations that blur the lines between painting and drawing, a collaboration of intention and intuition.

“Coronation of the Violets”, a joyous companion piece to “Robin’s-Egg” but happy to be standing on its own strength and beauty. 36” x 36” acrylic, ink, graphite, wax crayon on canvas, unframed…

Lightening strikes twice! My new painting “Robin’s-Egg” was selected for the year-end show ‘Palette in Play’ opening on November 19 at The Gallery in Tiburon, hard on the heels of the current show ‘Mark-Making’ with my painting “Hornet’s Nest” on exhibit through November 11. “Robin’s-Egg” was inspired by Walt Whitman’s lyrical line “Bronze, lilac, robin’s-egg, marine and crimson,” deep within his poem Song of the Exposition. #curatedeye #abstracted by @sandrahollanderart

Expanding my palette as well as the list of materials on this one. How long since you’ve seen crimson in my paintings!? Ink, spray paint, graphite, crayon, acrylic. “Robin’s-Egg”, 36”x36” on canvas. Available. #curatedeye #abstracted by @sandrahollanderart

Sometimes magic does happen in the studio. Two paintings done at different times and places, in different mediums, have been stored in my studio for several years. I’ve moved them around to different stacks many times. Yesterday they were in the way again but when I picked them up I suddenly thought, “Hey, wait a minute!” I hung them together as a diptych. They have been waiting for one another for a long time. #curatedeye by @sandrahollanderart

“Blue Peonies” morphed again. She turned upside down, added an additional painting and became a diptych. She is now 4’x6’. Contact me if you can’t live without her! #curatedeye by @sandrahollanderart

Opening night of the show ‘Mark Making: Dots, Lines, Textures’ at The Gallery in Tiburon, CA, and the debut of my painting “Hornet’s Nest”. Thank you to the unsung jurors who selected my painting as well as to Diane Green and her crew for a beautifully curated installation. Visit this show of work by Bay Area artists through November 11.

THE Gallery, Tiburon, selected “Hornet’s Nest” for their juried show “Mark Making: Dots, Lines, Textures” opening September 17. This painting is an earlier work from 2024, revealing my emerging fascination with marks. by @sandrahollanderart

Entitled “The Toys Are Idle”, from a line in an award-winning poem written by my friend, Bonnie, when she was a schoolgirl. My paintings now are showing more mark-making and drawing with crayons, pencils and oil sticks, something I’ve felt compelled to do since I started my abstract work.
