Singer-songwriter. Modern hymns & American roots music. 🎶 “Homecoming EP” OUT NOW

POSTS STORIES REELS

A friend said to me this morning that through the gospel, the roots may be sorrow, but the visible flower above the surface is joy. 🌱 🌼 It’s been a great joy to make this ‘Homecoming’ album with these friends and to share it in New York, Nashville and Oxford over these past months. Thanks for listening and carrying these songs with me. ❤️

I spent four months in Oxford, England, last spring and I had the unique opportunity to study and reflect on this subject of “heaven” while we were there. I took in the slow sunsets and rich community life. These new songs were written in collaboration with theologian N.T. Wright, as he was finishing his book, God’s Homecoming. “Humans are designed to be the creator’s means of veiled self-disclosure…God-revealers, with God himself being mysteriously present ‘with’ them, behind them and ‘through’ them.” (N.T. Wright)

This season helped to widen the view of what we sing about and how our hope is shaped by our theology. I want to practice a prophetic imagination to see through the lens of scripture more of what God is doing in our world and to see heaven breaking in.

After returning to Nashville, I brought the songs home and worked with producer and long-time friend, Cason Cooley and an all-star team of musicians who brought the songs to life. Theology matters, and we are shaped by what we sing. May these songs spark and reshape our hope for heaven. The kind of hope that meets us right now, in our real lives, by the Spirit.

Special thanks to my family for going on this journey with me. Thank you, Tom Wright. Thanks also to St. Aldates Oxford, Wycliffe Hall, the community at Yarnton Manor, Kyle McManamy, Dr. Michael Lloyd, David Clifton, Jonathan Brant, Cason Cooley, Luke and Beth Laird and Creative Nation, Dara Easterday and 25 Artists, Taylor Leonhardt, Jon Guerra, Anthony LaMarca, Truman House, Will Sayles, Byron House, Nathan Dugger, Mark Rodgers, and Goldenwood NYC. by @sandramccracken

We ended this year’s In the Word events this weekend in Oklahoma City! We are thankful for such a sweet year with these events across the country as Jen unpacked the importance of the Lord’s Prayer in teaching us how to pray. From special guest conversations to worship with the amazing Sandra McCracken, we hope every woman who attended was blessed and encouraged to open her Bible with fresh eyes.

While we’re sad to end this year of In the Word events, we’re so excited for 2027 events! Next year, Jen will teach us creation itself points to God’s purposes throughout the Bible!

We hope that you’ll join us in one of the 6 locations:
Charlotte, NC
Tyler, TX
West Chicago, IL
Jackson, MS
Portland, OR
Minneapolis, MN

Each of these songs on my new EP are reflections on heaven. "Hidden In Christ" is meant to be a comfort in death, written for when we have to say goodbye to someone we love. N.T. Wright paraphrases Jesus when he quotes Ps 31:5 at the end of his life, as recorded in Luke’s gospel, "Here’s my spirit, Father! You can take care of it now!” Thanks also to my friend, Jon Guerra who helped me write and sing this one.
