This Is A Movement is THRILLED to announce the recipients of our Inaugural TIAM Composer Clinic Studio Grant: Frewuhn, Jessica Ackereley, Bilge Gunaydin and Sandrine Ramamonjisoa.

It was such an incredible honor to offer The Composer Clinic project and now this grant to what has turned out to be global community of women and nonbinary musicians and composers! We are grateful to New Music USA for their financial support for this initiative, to our jurors Nikki Birch (@shesnikkibirch), Hans Elder (@hanselder), and Amma Whatt (@ammawhatt) for offering their expertise and ears for this. Huge thanks to Sofia Goodman (@thesofiagoodmangroup) and Marta Sánchez (@martasanchezpiano) who worked with co-founder Niama Safia Sandy to bring the workshops to fruition.

We received a number of VERY STRONG submissions; know that our jurors truly had their work cut out for them! Major congratulations to our grantees! by @sandrinisoa

Die Band Appaloosa setzt sich in den eigenwilligen Kompositionen der Saxofonistin, Sandrine Ramamonjisoa, das Ziel, immer offen zu sein. In Improvisationspassagen, wie auch den abwechslungsreichen Stücken. Das junge Quartett lebt von ihrem intensiven und intuitiven Zusammenspiel und transportiert ihre Spielfreude mit Ernsthaftigkeit und Leichtigkeit, Sprunghaftigkeit und langem Atem zugleich. Stilistisch bewegen sie sich im Creative Jazz mit vielfältigen Einflüssen u.a. aus Hip-Hop und madagassischer Musik.

2023 belegten sie den ersten Platz beim internationalen Next Generation Women in Jazz Wettbewerb und veröffentlichten diesen Herbst ihr Debütalbum.

Es ist viel zu lange her seit dem letzten visit.

Vor einer Woche kam eine kleine, feine EP mit @appaloosa_band raus, auf der wir meine Kompositionen spielen.

Danke an die Band, mein Kumpel Linus und #lucasramamonjisoa fürs mixen und mastern, an das Studio der @hfm_nuernberg, in dem die ersten drei Stücke aufgenommen und gemischt wurden und an @maxdiller_ für das sweete Cover.
