We are excited to introduce our newest artist at Whistler Contemporary Gallery, Sandro Akel (@sandroakel )

Based in São Paulo, Akel’s layered works draw from decades of engagement with urban environments around the world. Incorporating found street posters, collage, and encaustic, his paintings carry the marks of time, movement, and collective memory. Rooted in the language of the street yet meticulously composed, his practice offers a thoughtful reflection on contemporary city life.

We look forward to sharing Sandro’s work with our Whistler community and welcoming his distinctive voice to the gallery.

Who is that? Two works by Sandro Akel, where the figure feels almost hidden emerging through colour, texture and movement rather than giving everything away.

You catch a glimpse, look again and somehow see something different. Art that keeps a little mystery ✨ taken in Whistler, Canada by @sandroakel
