I have always been a Dr. Seuss fan and “Oh, the places you’ll go” is one of my faves. It gives inspiration and marching orders for a journey, making it a go to gift for a high school or college graduate.
Recently, a friend, reached out after receiving her copy of “I Am.” She said the story’s focus on identity and connection to who you are and where you are from now makes it her go to graduation gift. A native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Alli is a TEDx speaker, national award-winning television journalist, and host and producer of VI Tings, a lifestyle and culture television program airing throughout the Caribbean. Throughout her career, she has used the power of storytelling to inform, inspire, and connect communities.

As host of the Virtual Launch Experience, Alli will guide viewers through the journey behind "I Am," leading conversations with author Zenzi Hodge, and illustrator J'Aaron Merchant, exploring the inspiration behind the book, and helping bring the story's message to life.

Art has the power to preserve memory, spark conversation, and keep a story alive long after the final word is read. That's exactly what this keepsake piece was created to do.

Today, we are excited to introduce Robert Paul Jr., the artist behind the keepsake artwork that will frame the re-introduction of Larry Sewer's poem, "Virgin Island Child." This limited-edition art piece was exclusively commissioned for the "I Am" Collections as part of Zenzi Hodge's June 26 book release.

A proud son of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Robert is a USA Today best selling illustrator, NAACP Image Award-winning artist, character designer, animator, and educator with nearly two decades of professional experience. His illustration work has appeared in more than 25 children's books, and he has worked as an Art Director, Lead Animator, and Character Designer in television and gaming.
