Simulated detonation of a legacy naval mine on an Indonesian carbonate reef. A 300 kg TNT-equivalent mine rests 3 m above the reef in 50 m of tropical water. The shock field is computed with a verified 4th-order axisymmetric acoustic solver that includes seabed reflection and surface cavitation. The hard reef reflects much of the shock back upward, so a vessel 40 m away is struck 2× within about 3 ms, each time at roughly 4 MPa.
