FILM SECTION: MIDNIGHT OPEN AIR 🦇

Somewhere between vampire legend, subversive animation, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" cult, and offbeat midnight cinema, a long open-air night unfolds in the garden of the Kunstbauerkino, filled with obsessions, abysses, and liberations. "The Blood Countess" transplants the infamous Erzsébet Báthory into present-day Vienna, blending historical horror with dark humor and vampire mythology. “Anifilm Presents: That’s What She Said, Vol. 02” brings together seven films by female directors from Central and Eastern Europe. It offers poetic, political, and visually unconventional perspectives on the present and on inner worlds. “Sane Inside Insanity — The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror” looks back on a global cult phenomenon and its queer energy on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. Finally, “Midnight Shorts” offers a late-night short film program full of wit, provocation, and cinematic boundary-crossing.

Sadly, we've just learned that Robert Fox has passed away at the far-too-young age of 73. As assistant to producer Michael White, he played an important role in the original production, its transfers along the King’s Road, and the deals that took Rocky Horror to the United States and all around the world. Robert was also married at the time to Celestia Fox, the UK casting director for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. To absent friends... 🖤 #rockyhorror by @saneinsideinsanitydoc

Our festival journey is slowly coming to an end, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible recognition from such prestigious events! Last weekend, we proudly screened at Mar del Plata in Argentina, South America’s largest and most renowned festival, as well as at the 39th International Film Festival in Braunschweig. Just a few days earlier, our film was featured at Musical Écran in Bordeaux, one of Europe’s most important festivals dedicated to musical documentaries. This amazing support means the world to us—we couldn’t have asked for more!

I just finished the @saneinsideinsanitydoc documentary, and it was so lovely to watch my friends, fellow cast members, and fellow cast leaders share their love of Rocky Horror, and also to have a short cameo myself 1hr and 32min in!

It was from a time I played Janet in a super shadow cast at the BFI in both The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Shock Treatment. double feature. It was one of the highlights of my time with the shadow cast the Denton Deviants, not only did Richard Hartley come up to me and compliment my performance (yes he is as nice in person as he appears in this documentary), but I also gave THE Patricia Quinn a peck on the lips during the ‘Little Black Dress’ number. And I got to spend time with my fellow cast members, and meet new ones from all over the world. To have all those memories flood back while watching this documentary was delightful.

Overall, as a long time Rocky Horror fan, I really enjoyed this documentary. I learned new information, especially around the early days of the stage show. And they really captured the reasons so many of us become so obsessed with it in the first place.
