Lake Louise from above and below. 🏔️

We tackled the Big Beehive hike to get the views from the top. The trail was fine up to the tea house, but beyond that it got pretty sketchy with snow and ice on the climb.

A few slips, a couple of falls, but worth every single one.

And yes, the lake is that BLUEEE..... 🩵

Turning 40 and realising…
I’m still just figuring it out as I go.
A bit of chaos. A bit of growth.
A lot of laughing at myself along the way.
Trying to find some kind of peace in it all… but my inner Shaolin monk is definitely still in training.

Fenghuang hit different.

We came as a family -
but I ended up spending most of my time just with my son.

Slow mornings, coffee in hand,
looking out at the stilt houses like it was just another normal day here.

No rush, no real plan.

Then somehow the nights turned into singing with locals at random karaoke bars, voices echoing through the streets like everyone just belonged there.

Nothing felt forced.
It just… happened.

Funny how a place built for defense somehow turned into one of the softest, slowest towns I’ve been in.

And that’s what stayed with me the most

FURONG ANCIENT TOWN

Same place. Same angle.
Day and night.

I thought the night would be the highlight.
But standing here in the day,
with everything stripped back -
this feels like the real version of it.

No lights, no noise, no distractions.
Just a town built into the edge of something that’s been here far longer than it.

The waterfall doesn’t perform.
It just keeps moving, like it always has.

The night is what people photograph.
The day is what you remember.
