POSTS STORIES REELS

I’m often presenting on trends and what music means to other people. But last week I got to share what music means to me - my journey, my why.

As a “free school meals” kid and young carer, there are things I never imagined would be possible for me. 💫

Growing up, most of the women around me sadly didn’t have the freedom or opportunity to make decisions over their own lives. That also meant I didn’t have many female role models or people who could guide me. Until I found music, and in particular, Destiny’s Child! They taught me the importance of paying bills, how to be an independent woman and how to become resilient in the face of life’s often relentless challenges.

I feel incredibly blessed and grateful that my passion for music, and its role in social change, has turned into a career. It has changed my life in ways I never dreamed would be possible. 🙇🏽‍♀️

Thank you, @meetpeoplelikeus & @tiktok , for giving me my most special speaking opportunity to date. 🙏🏽

Meet Sania Haq, Sania shares how her story is intwined with her grandmother’s

“My story is intrinsically linked to my grandmother’s (Husan-Ara Mirza) - I am because she was! She was an activist who dedicated her university years to the struggle for India's Independence.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by diversity, particularly the vibrant culture we shared as South Asians living in the UK. While on the odd occasion some tensions would arise, by and large South Asian communities lived happily side-by-side. As South Asian history was not part of our school curriculum, I never had the chance to learn more about my heritage. Thankfully, as part of A-level History I was able to interview my grandmother about her life. She taught me about the things that unite us, and those that can sadly be used to tear us apart.

I became obsessed with ethnic dynamics and how to achieve cross-cultural harmony. I studied everything from the depths of ethnic conflict, to the role music and entertainment can play in bridging cultural boundaries. If I’m honest, I never knew how I would turn it into a career. Needless to say, my family were not best pleased about that part! Over the last 12+ years, I have been lucky enough to do so.

I started my career in research, with a focus on using data and insights to amplify the voices of lesser heard communities. I now also work more broadly in inclusive data, training and strategy. I help commercial clients navigate and reach diverse audiences, and governments/nonprofits better meet their socioeconomic needs.

One of the main sectors I specialise in is music. This brings together hands-on experience through @TheBollywoodco , with my broader research/diversity work for clients such as Spotify and UK Music.

I lost my grandmother last year, but I hope my work can contribute to her legacy living on!”

I’m slightly lost for words…but wanted to remember this moment so will give it a go…

Intercultural diversity has always been my obsession and, if I’m honest, I never really knew how I was going to make a career out of it. I actually never even thought about it (to my family’s dismay 😆). But as the saying (roughly) goes, if you truly want something and your intentions are pure, the way will appear! 🙏🏼

I’m incredibly humbled to have been recognised by the Film & TV 🍿 industry for my work within Diversity & Inclusion! It’s an industry I have always believed has the power to help us understand and appreciate diversity!

Thank you to @audiencenet for giving me the opportunity to work within this amazing industry!

When we’re addressing gender equality and wellbeing, it’s important that we understand the experiences and perspectives of men too.

Through my work in inclusion and research, I’ve been increasingly exploring men’s wellbeing, and it’s a space I’m finding incredibly interesting.

Lovely to be invited to the @onepeloton x @sportingequals Mindset Training Club event, featuring an insightful and inspiring conversation with @ma5ih_tim, Peloton instructor JJ ( @jermainejohnsonuk ) and former England rugby international Luther Burrell.

From the pressures and expectations placed on men to the importance of connection, sport, vulnerability and asking for help, so many valuable insights were shared.

Honoured to be a judge for the Market Research Society (MRS) Awards again this year! 🏆

It’s a privilege to contribute to an industry that plays such an important role in understanding society, informing decisions and driving meaningful change.

Personally, it has also been encouraging to see the growing focus on inclusive research and understanding the diversity of the communities we serve.

Congratulations to all this year’s finalists! 👏🏽

On October 6, UK Music hosts the first of its Five Ps diversity workshops online. Based on the theme of Progress, the session is for HR executives, hiring managers, leaders, and staff who influence people decisions, culture, and organisational systems.

The Five Ps framework was developed by UK Music to give organisations of all sizes a flexible and adaptable approach to designing a diversity strategy that aligns with their unique needs and culture. The Five Ps are: Progress, People, Policy, Partnerships and Purchase.

Navigating how to tackle barriers to inclusion and diversity, can be complex. Following the launch of the Five Ps in 2023 and the release of an online resource guide in 2025, the next step is to bring the framework to life through expert-led, interactive sessions that explore the key themes of the 5Ps in depth. These will take the form of 60-minute sessions - facilitated by Sania Haq - focused on areas from the Five Ps, kicking off with Progress.

It was a pleasure to attend the inaugural @southasianbeautycollective Awards, celebrating the incredible talent, contributions and opportunities within South Asian communities across the beauty industry.

@aartipmakeup’s vision for showcasing and championing this is incredibly inspiring and something I very much align with. It was wonderful to see it brought to life so impactfully through the awards.

Congratulations to Aarti on an incredible event, and wonderful for our team at @thebollywoodco to be the official Cultural Entertainment Partner for the evening.

WHO IS IT FOR:

The session is for HR executives, hiring managers, leaders, and staff who influence people decisions, culture, and organisational systems.

WHAT WILL THE SESSIONS COVER:

Impact can be measured in a number of ways, but charting progress is one of the most fundamental pillars of measuring success. This can range from raising awareness about reporting standards, to publishing data, which is relevant to encouraging progress. Where possible, reporting must be intersectional and go beyond the very basic or legal requirements. The areas to focus on, can be broadly categorised as follows:

1. Raise awareness:
Internally and externally around EDI audit, review and outcomes.

2. Share data and insights:
Establish best practice by publishing data on gender, ethnicity and disability pay gaps annually.

3. Progress and report:
Increase data transparency and take an intersectional approach to data analysis.
*In recognition of resource demands, these apply to organisations with more than 25 employees only.

Sometimes we forget the very human need behind inclusion: people want products and services that actually work for them too.

For brands, it’s about creating things people genuinely connect with, want to pay for, and feel are made with them in mind.

Having had the chance to work with many beauty brands over the last decade, I’ve seen the industry very much leading the way in creating products that work for a much wider range of people.

LIVE REVIEW • Raf-Saperra, 24/07/2026
On Friday 24 July, British-Punjabi artist Raf-Saperra brought an unforgettable performance to Somerset House's courtyard. Blending Punjabi folk with contemporary hip-hop and a range of other influences, he celebrated Punjabi culture before a sold-out crowd. While also paying tribute to the artists and musical traditions that have shaped both his own sound and British South Asian music.

Following her article for Chartmetric in 2023, exploring the artist's rise and describing British Asian music as "a space to watch" - Sania writes about the Somerset House evening, while also reflecting back to this article.

Events by Netflix’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are always a highlight. 🗓️

It was a pleasure to attend the South Asian (Masala) Network’s Summer Soirée marking South Asian Heritage Month.

A brilliant evening showcasing South Asian food, entertainment and talent from across the media, creative industries, business and beyond.

These events are a reminder of the positive impact of creating spaces that bring people together to connect, collaborate and innovate.

Thank you @emzt_rc and the Netflix Masala team for another wonderful evening. ❤️
