Capture the vibrance of summer on SantaColor100! Embrace the season and snap unforgettable moments. These stunning shots by @napparitm were taken in Mallorca using a Canon EOS 300 with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens. by @santafilm
SantaColor100 is an interesting stock, not only for its unique properties as a surveillance film but also due to its scanning requirements. Because of the clearer base, some scanners get confused and produce a very red image. This is easily corrected when home scanning or by a good lab. For this reason, camera scanning is one of the best ways to get the most out of this lovely stock! Arild Båsmo (@arilbaas), founder and head of @valoi.co, is a big SantaColor100 enthusiast. Today we are sharing some of his scans as well as notes on why he enjoys SantaColor100. SantaColor 100 quickly became a staple in his camera bag because it offered a lot of things he enjoys about color film: Punchy colors, deep greens, solid contrast but with good highlight retention, and fine grain. For him, there just aren’t any other color films that provide all that. Most of his shots were either metered at 100, or at 160-200 and pushed one development step. Mastering the art of scanning with VALOI became crucial for him. He found that scanning the film at home tends to yield better results than most labs can produce, partly due to its different base compared to most colour negative films. Controlling the amount of magenta, especially visible in the shadows, became an essential aspect of scanning this film well. Tools like Negative Lab Pro, known for being quite film agnostic, greatly aided in achieving optimal results. by @santafilm
In July, we have something special for all SantaColor 100 lovers! We’re running a Christmas-in-July film sale, offering serious discounts on single 36 exposure rolls, 5-packs, and bulk-rolls. If you’re looking to stock up your film fridge this summer, SantaColor100 is a must! It might even be the 35mm film of the summer if you ask us. If you have ever shot it, you’ll understand why it’s our favorite color negative film stock. The best part is that it’s hand-spooled in-house at Kamerastore in Finland. From July 1st to July 31st, 2024, the discounted prices are: Single roll: 13.90€ (down from 17.90€) 3-roll pack: 39€ (down from 49€, 13€/roll) 5-roll pack: 59€ (down from 79€, 11.80€/roll) Bulk roll (30m): 175€ (down from 229€, 9.72€/roll when spooled) by @santafilm
Enjoy this Daffodil bouquet study by @r0man0ff. He takes full advantage of the discounted flowers offered by local supermarkets during holidays. For this series, he pushed the film to 800, a dramatic three-stop push. Despite this, the film rendering of SantaColor 100 was perfect. Well done to @carmencitafilmlab for their excellent film development and scanning! The tones and contrast are just right. This film has become a favourite for such projects. The occasional light leaks are happy accidents and in this case only added to this series. Don't hesitate to give it a try and use it in creative ways! by @santafilm
As we indulge in half-frame mania, we're sharing some landscape half-frame images taken with a Yashica Samurai and Santacolour100. This film, known for its fine grain, looks nearly as good on half-frame as it does on a full 35mm frame. The images were shot by @klarabeckerling and scanned with @valoi.co.
