Meet Skippy, the joyful little sister you didn’t know your home was missing!

This sweet girl came to us alongside her sisters Savvy and Sunny (who currently are at the rescue) and has been brightening up every room she walks into ever since. She switches effortlessly from wrestling partner to cuddle pile participant, is a devoted fan of laps and TV, and has a perfect litter box record to boot.

Skippy has plenty of playful energy and would love a home where co-play is welcomed by other pets. She shakes off disagreements quickly and makes friends easily wherever she goes. A true easygoing girl through and through!

At this year’s Cocktails for Critters, we had the joy of sitting down with Tom, a volunteer who has shown up for us every single week for over a decade!

Tom has fostered critters in need in the past, opening his heart (and home) to them, and every year he laces up his shoes to run and fundraise for Race for the Rescues. These days he’s stepped back from fostering, but you’ll still find him at Santé D’Or every week, always happy to show newer volunteers the ropes and get others involved.

We will be CLOSED this Saturday, July 4th. But surprise surprise, we ARE open today (12:30 PM - 4 PM) if you’d like to swing by! We’ll also be keeping our normal hours Friday and Sunday, with last walk-ins at 4:45pm both days.

While you’re here, we’d also love for you to meet Ziggiliano, one of our residents waiting for his forever home. He’s 14 years old and came to us after being surrendered for some bathroom accidents, but we quickly learned that was no reflection on him. He’s an excellent litter box user with zero issues since he’s been in our care!

Ziggiliano is a true foodie and a total loverboy. He’s affectionate and loves companionship, but he’s easy going about it too, not needy, not high maintenance, just a steady, relaxed presence. Think of him as a low key “boyfriend” cat: he’ll keep you company and shower you with affection without asking for much in return.

Despite being a senior, he’s in great health. He had a dental cleaning late last year and recovered beautifully. He still has so much love to give and life left to live.

We have a special request from our SDO community and we are not above begging. 🤷‍♀️

Kitten season is not slowing down, and we’d love more than anything to be able to say yes to more animals. We are getting daily requests for friendly strays, orphaned kittens, owners facing impossible situations, and animals being left behind at an alarming rate. We aren’t going to sugarcoat it, it’s a lot.

So here’s our ask. If you’ve ever thought about fostering… Hi! Hello! We’re talking to you. ☺️

We take care of ALL the supplies. You just keep your foster safe and check in with our team on your timeframe! 🏡🐱

We’re so excited to announce this year’s Cocktails for Critters fundraiser! This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and we want to invite all of you to join! If you like cocktails, critters, silent auctions, raffles, supporting our rescue, and meeting other animal-lovers, this is the summer event for you! 🥂

Meet Lucky Penny! She is a sweet, silly girl and seems to be growing more affectionate as she settles in. One of Penny’s signature traits is how talkative she is. She has the cutest little chirpy hum and uses it for just about everything, whether she is entering a room, hopping on the bed, asking for food, getting pet, or simply saying hello. She is a great conversationalist, and it is one of the many things that makes her so endearing.

Meet Squirt! ❤️ Squirt got a second chance on life and he is not taking it for granted. He is a happy, easy-going boy who sports a traffic jam of a tail. He was born in an industrial area of North Hollywood. His mom brought him directly to the colony feeder so he has known people as friends his whole life. He assumes all other kitties are friends too and greets with everyone with a head bump whether they are ready for it or not.

Squirt fell ill in November and was pulled from his colony to see if his life could be saved. He had to endure surgery and treatment for wet FIP. He has recovered from both and can’t stop celebrating how good he feels. Squirt would love to be in a home with other cats who would like to be his friend. He loves to chase and wrestle and loves to co-sleep with friends as well— including you.

Squirt is on his FIP observation period and available for foster-to-adopt! If you think this sweet boy would be a good fit in your home, fill out an application online! 🏡 by @santedorrescue
