#shotonfilm 🎞️🇲🇽 by @santi_sauer
Stations of the Cross . This is a series of paintings I made last year at the @oneartistcollective collab. Easter just feels like the right time to share them. While working on these, I kept returning to the idea of a God who suffers… not a distant figure in the clouds, but someone who shares in our pain. From anonymous medieval painters to Rembrandt, the Stations have been an artistic and devotional way to contemplate that suffering. I’ve always felt a kind of closeness when encountering them. Perhaps in these images, you might sense it too. Happy Easter . Shoutout to @thiago.cesario.1 for helping me bring these paintings together by @santi_sauer

@luisgerardom me hizo reír. Ahora, corran al cine. by @santi_sauer

A Super Authentic Mexican Extra . I wanted to post this picture to celebrate that tomorrow is the premiere of @leonoramovie at the Guadalajara Film Festival. “Leonora in the Morning Light” was a life changing experience for me. This film was a dream project in many ways. Firstly, it was shot in Mexico and Germany, the two worlds I constantly inhabit. Then it also was a historical film about surrealism - two of the things I love the most. I grew a lot by filming the “Making Of” and I made amazing friends along the way. When you watch the film, you may witness the 1 second I’m in the frame selling chickens… For what it’s worth, I went full on method and even shaved my beard! Four for Caspar . Over the last couple days I’ve had the joy of making art at the @oneartistcollective collab, and what ride it has been! Here are four pictures that show the beauty of the historic town of Herrnhut in the German countryside. These are based on the painting style of Caspar David Friedrich, one of my favorite German artists. Feel the magic in this place! by @santi_sauer

Hawai’i . I haven’t posted much about my time in Hawai’i. For the last three months I laid the groundwork for my first feature film. Throughout this process I’ve learned that making a film requires many miracles. When my dreams have felt too big, I hear a quiet voice in my heart telling me to keep pushing forward. I trust God can make a way. He is good. I enjoyed great friendships and the sunsets of Hawai’i. by @santi_sauer
