Love visiting @magazzino! What a special place for Italian art lovers.

When I was just in Paris, I kept spotting Venetian slippers everywhere—the soft, elegant flats and Mary Janes that look as lovely with a dress as they do with jeans. I came home wanting to share them with you.

Please join us for The Art of Venetian Shoes, a special event with SantM. Handcrafted in Italy and co-created with a podiatrist, these beautiful shoes combine generations of Italian craftsmanship with thoughtful comfort. Meet SantM founder Min Santandrea for private fittings, bespoke curation, and personalized monogramming. Your shoes can even be sent back to Italy for this special finishing touch.

The tradition began in Friuli, where slippers were handmade from available fabrics with soft, flexible soles. Gondoliers later embraced them for their quiet, grippy soles, which were gentle on polished boat decks. Venetian lore says they were also favored in palazzos, allowing ladies to glide quietly through the corridors—perhaps on their way to a secret tryst. Whether legend or not, it’s a story we rather love.

A thoughtful holiday gift for the person who has everything—and a lovely way to give something personal, beautiful, and made to be worn.

Last night, the rain cleared just in time.
The sun came out, the goldenrod, dahlias, and meadow were glistening, and one very long table stretched across the beautiful grounds of Lachat Farm. Neighbors from Weston and across Fairfield County gathered to do something wonderfully simple: sit down together. They shared a meal, passed dishes, swapped stories, met someone new and spent an evening in community.

And setting the mood for the entire evening was the beautiful jazz music of On the Count of Two. We heard rave reviews all night long and they truly provided the perfect soundtrack for dinner in the meadow. The Longest Table is a nationwide movement bringing communities together around a shared table, and last night we understood why. In a world where we seem to spend more and more time apart, there is something beautifully old fashioned about neighbors sitting down together over a meal. Looking down that long table, filled with conversation, laughter and new connections, was a pretty wonderful reminder of what community can look like.

The Longest Table. A pretty good metaphor for what community should be. A huge thank you to Kim McGrath and Min Santandrea for helping to organize this incredible evening, and especially to our wonderful Table Captains who welcomed their guests, coordinated dishes and helped turn a table of neighbors into a community.

Thank you to all of our Lachat volunteers, Boy Scout Troop 788, Ellen McCormick and Jennifer Daniels for flowers, Bruce Plotkin for his beautiful photographs of the evening and in kind donations from Carol and Rone Baldwin.

And a very special thank you to our generous sponsors, Saatva Mattress and Glengate, for helping us bring this community experience to life. @saatva @glengatecompany @longesttablecommunity by @santm.co
