At Santo’s Sanctuary & Rescue, we’ve impacted 1,800+ animals since 2021. We know how to save dogs—now we’re looking for someone who can help us build the funding and partnerships that allow us to expand.

This is more than planning fundraisers. We’re looking for someone who can build relationships with corporations, foundations, businesses, and major donors to help secure sponsorships, grants, and long-term financial support.

What You’ll Do:
🐾 Build corporate partnerships
🐾 Secure sponsors, grants & major gifts
🐾 Create sponsorship opportunities & proposals
🐾 Grow sustainable funding for our mission
🐾 Help shape the future of dogs

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:
✔️ Strategic & relationship-driven
✔️ Comfortable networking with businesses & community leaders
✔️ Organized, self-motivated & passionate about animal welfare

What You’ll Get:

Compensation:
This is a volunteer leadership role. However, exceptional fundraising performance may qualify for discretionary stipends based on measurable results, available organizational funding, and board approval.

*UPDATE* Thank you to everyone who shared Meadow’s post – I’m so happy to report that a rescue @santossanctuary was willing to step up to help Meadow (and she has potential adoption interest in Massachusetts)! I will foster her until her medical issues have resolved and her adoption is finalized.

When I found her, she had skin issues that I prioritized treating, but the rescue will take over the expenses of her further medical care and transport – she will need vaccines, a spay, a heartworm test and potentially other medical care. She will also be sent to training to make sure she is dog friendly.

Santo’s Sanctuary is a very small, local rescue owned by a husband-wife duo who say yes to Houston’s strays because they know these dogs deserve more than being discarded.

😩🐾 BREAKING NEWS…THIS JUST SUCKS.🐾😩

This weekend alone, we received over 100 requests to help dogs. That’s more than usual.

That’s over 100 heartbreaking situations, and 100 dogs we wish we could save.

The truth is, one of the hardest parts of rescue is typing the same response over and over:

“Please keep trying. Reach out to other rescues. Share on social media. Contact your county shelter.”

We know those words feel empty when you’re scared, overwhelmed, and desperate. We know surrendering your dog feels awful. We know shelters (if there’s even room) feels scary.

But please know this: we’re over here with a broken heart too.

We are a small organization run by people with full-time jobs. We don’t get paid to rescue. We spend nights fundraising, answering messages, juggling foster situations, vet appointments, coordinating transport, taking care of dogs, and making sacrifices most people would never understand just to say “yes” to a handful of dogs.

Meanwhile, donations are at an all-time low, vet costs are at an all-time high, dogs die daily by euthanasia, and owner surrender requests flood in.

Life happens. We get that. But many of the dogs we’re asked to take were never spayed or neutered, never given heartworm prevention, never trained, never properly socialized, or are being surrendered for issues that will follow them into another home if they aren’t addressed. Aggression, lack of potty training, poor behavior around children, escaping yards…those problems don’t disappear because the address changes.

If you want to help solve this crisis:

• Keep your dog if you can
• Spay and neuter
• Invest in training
• Foster
• Donate
• Share rescue posts

If you’re in a position to foster, fundraise, donate, educate, volunteer, advocate - there’s no time like the present. We could use a little help over here. 🥴🖤🐾

Feelings are weird for a girl who’s mostly dead inside. ☠️

Hear me out. NOT a super long read…keep going ….

You have to be… at least a little dead inside to survive dog rescue.

Not because you don’t care…because you care too much.
You learn to compartmentalize. You keep moving…otherwise you wouldn’t make it.

A huge shoutout to @thedogstandardhtx for saying “yes” when everyone else had given up on the mama (now adopted) and her babies. They poured so much into them, and those tiny puppies grew into the most incredible adolescent dogs.

Tomorrow, they’re headed to their forever homes.

The end of a rescue story is always a strange mix of emotions. It feels exciting. It feels meaningful. It makes you proud.

But here’s the part people don’t always think about…

You hand them over, hug them one last time, tell them they’re the best dog in the world, you say goodbye one final time and then you let them go….

Not because you don’t love them…because you do.

And that’s how you keep saving. You have to be strong enough to sacrifice your own feelings.

So here’s to every foster, every rescuer, every transporter, every volunteer, and every person who’s ever loved a dog enough to say goodbye.

Thank you for breaking your own heart so another family could have theirs made whole. ❤️🐾

❤️ MEADOW IS SAFE. ❤️
After many days of searching, we finally get to share the words we’ve been hoping to say…

Meadow has been found.

We’ve scoured the internet, contacted every shelter we could think of, followed countless leads, hired a thermal drone, set up a game camera, feeding stations, and never stopped looking.

And after all of that…
One shared post is what brought her home.
It’s a powerful reminder that you never know which share, comment, or conversation will be the one that changes everything.

We never gave up hope, and neither did so many of you.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who shared her story, kept an eye out, sent prayers, positive thoughts, and encouraged us to keep going.
Meadow is finally safe.

🚨 Welcome, Siren, to Santo’s Sanctuary & Rescue. 💖

A few days ago, this sweet girl was abandoned, but thanks to some incredibly kind rescuers in The Woodlands, she made it to safety with us.

We named her Siren for two reasons:
🎤 She’s definitely found her voice—this girl has some pipes.
🌊 And we’re pretty excited for The Odyssey. 🎥

Siren is about 10 weeks old and is everything a puppy should be: curious, playful, affectionate, and always ready to make a new friend. Shes very food motivated, and loves cuddling!

We have absolutely no idea what her breed is, but our best guess is maybe some Catahoula, Doberman, or a little bit of everything. Whatever she is, she’s 100% adorable.

She’ll be fully vetted over the next few weeks and then she’ll be ready to find the forever family she deserves!

Saying goodbye to him is what saved her.

Fosters are the heartbeat of rescue. Without them, we cannot continue this work—and dogs waiting for help have nowhere to go. This work is so important and we need help because we really can’t do this without people willing to open up their hearts and homes.

Sometimes, after saving hundreds and hundreds of dogs, one still finds a way to completely undo you. They get into your heart heavier in a way you cannot explain. Maybe it’s just the timing of the universe.

But, rescue means letting go. It means choosing the work over our own feelings. We do this because we love them - and because saving the next dog has to matter more to us than how we feel in the moment. I know his new Mama is going to love him just as we do. 🤍

Trigger warning ❤️‍🩹
Please keep Indie in your thoughts tonight.

Her spay was rougher than we expected. She lost too much blood at first, had to be opened up more than planned, and now her staples are looking inflamed. Our vet team is aware, and her foster is watching her closely, but my heart is just sitting heavy with this little girl tonight. 💕

She has already been through enough, and all I want is for her to feel safe, loved, and comfortable while her body heals.
The good news is Indie is heartworm negative, and once she is healed, she’ll be looking for her forever home. But tonight, we’re just asking for some extra prayers, good thoughts, and healing energy for our girl.

I feel like I’m always reintroducing this dog because she means so much to me!!!! This is Scarlett. ❤️

When we saved her, she was starving to death. She had endured the worst kind of cruelty, including at-home C-sections, and had been treated like an object to make money.

It was pretty evident early on that she wasn’t going anywhere.

The deep love I have for this breed is rooted in their loyalty and their absolute lack of independence. 😂 They are the ultimate Velcro dogs, insanely affectionate, and if you like being suffocated in your sleep… 10/10 recommend. 🤣
