Dear my Guardian Angel,

To my best friend, my biggest supporter, my champion, my inspiration, my late night snack partner, my confidant. You were the light at everyone’s tunnel. The gift that kept on giving. You were there for everything, showed up no questions asked. Thank you. Thank you for always putting a smile on every single person’s face, every day. This life and world without you is darker, colder, quieter and lonelier. Thank you for coming into my room and talking to me about life. Thank you for teaching me the power of stories and traditions passed down. Thank you for teaching me the power of family and love. Against all odds, you became a powerful, successful man in the most quiet and humble way. You never spoke about your legacy-but you built one anyway. Thank you for teaching me to be a consistent hard worker by getting my hands dirty, especially when no one was watching. Thank you for teaching me how to use tools and how to build things. Thank you for always making me feel safe and that I belong. I will never forget your stories and I will always do my best to share them like you. From Egypt to California, you were everyone’s favorite. Every single second I got to spend with you, I was smiling and laughing. You made me feel special. You are and will always be, the funniest, silliest, and happiest person I knew. You taught me that just by existing, you are enough because that’s how I felt about you. If I was with you, I felt whole. I am forever grateful for the time I got with you. It’s all I can hold onto. Anthony said it best…”Daddo was a man who fixed things. What he didn’t know, is he was quietly fixing us in the process.” I promise to live like you lived, forever spreading love and laughter every day. I will never be able to repay you for all you have done for us. However, I will spend a lifetime embodying you. Being your granddaughter is one of the greatest honors of my life.
