NEW Aguzzo is a new serif typeface family by @kasperpyndt, exclusively available in Displaay library in 14 styles with a revised design! For those looking for a “normal” lowercase ‘a’, Aguzzo has it — and it’s a very nice too. Just look at Brigitte jumping with joy. True typographic happiness.

Let me tell you the story about my Aunt Brigitte... and about Aguzzo Typeface 🧛🏻‍♀️

For the second time in a row, we’ve created a kind-of-traditional specimen poster to present Aguzzo: as usual, party in the front 🕺🏽 business in the back 🧑🏻‍🔧🔤

Aguzzo is accompanied by a little sharp-toothed vampire named Brigitte, created by top-notch illustrator Samuel Nyholm (@sanydk). Btw. Aguzzo is an Italian word — it means sharp, pointed, keen, or peaked! Now it makes a lot more sense, not just for the vampire Brigitte character, right? 🍷

Last week, we released a special limited edition of 50 luminescent Aguzzo prints. Brigitte is ready to light up your night! She tries to be scary, but let’s be honest—she’s way more cute than anything else.

Graphic prints are hand-printed at the 44” Print screen-printing workshop in Prague on thick Munken paper.

AGUZZO is out now. Handle with care — it’s got sharp peaks. 😇 New beauty designed by @kasperpyndt is available in 14 styles exclusively in the Displaay catalogue now! 💛

💜 Aguzzo is quite loosely related to Alessandro Butti’s and Aldo Novarese’s Augustea (Fonderia Nebiolo) from 1951, an engravers-style typeface based on the Roman capitals, notable for its triangular punctuation and enclosed figure “2”—features which are highlighted as alternate stylistic character sets in Aguzzo.

🖤 This is, however, where the similarities end: Aguzzo combines rigorously carved geometry with more transitional traits, making it stand on its own two feet (pun intended). Additionally, the upright styles’ sharp expression is mirrored in the steep 16° inclination of the Italic whose introduction of a variety of broad-nib flourishes nicely contrasts the upright styles. The typeface’s occasionally unusual letterforms, yet high degree of legibility, makes Aguzzo suited for use in a multitude of sizes and contexts.
