Anyone else thinking of leaving the party and event world?

I love producing. Like I really really love it.

A client says they want a Halloween party and I say

“Yep so you’re gonna need…”

* An evil plastic surgeon with a syringe through her face

* An adult female doll who carries her fathers head as a handbag

* A live levitation operation in a twisted up beauty parlour

* industrial fet den with people on leads

…and all the other stuff I can see in my mind before I create it.

It would still be a great party without me though. Apart from when we turned television centre into a cruise pirate ship, with pole dancing pirate djs, synchronised swimming mermaids, vogue sailor boys and @kuruptfm @white_city_house

And that’s why I like it. I love having ideas that I can bring to life, it’s like dreaming in reality. And I got to work with most insane talents.

@theagentunique will be rebranded and get my full attention. Agent Unique has the power to change what people think I reckon.

If we see subculture at a party it’s cause we’re part of it. When we see it on a screen the exposure changes society.

I’m not jacking in producing, I’ll be doing live performance, music vids and mentoring. And I so hope I see you on stage or film set.

Big love to everyone who worked events and parties for me. I’m unsure what the reach was in total. It hit 300 one year, that much I know. You all blew my mind, repeatedly, with your talents and creations and that won’t change. Thank you for always saying yes to the madness of my creative mind 😂

I’m not silly enough to say ‘never’, I may throw one big party a year…Who knows.

This Valentine’s day, I’m remembering my love of Serendipity and how it arrives in the most unexpected places ♥️

Last year I needed a sabbatical, I was unwell, in severe pain and living in the middle of no where.

I had ditched my phone in favour of rest and two bright wonderful souls drifted into my life unexpectedly, when I had nothing to give.

We conducted our friendship entirely without technology and it was revolutionary; it felt like returning to teenage hood before phones.

They were certainly guardian angels; they reminded me of my dreams and who I am, we creatively brainstormed in ways that brought my soul back to itself.

And then they wonderfully continued on their wild, accomplished, exceptional global adventures and dreams.

I can honestly say, had I not met them, I may never have got back to my own.

Love isn’t just found in romantic partnerships, it is found in moments, connections and wonder, it moves and it flows and it passes through.

Just look at their beautiful souls

As an intentionally single woman, with boys almost fully grown, I had all this love that needed to be directed.

I spent so much time dreaming of foster children or running children’s homes, feeling like my boys’ childhood just wasn’t long enough, that it went too quickly.

And then I got my Pip and she’d been treated hideously, she lost her eye and needed so much love and out of no where I became a dog person.

I didn’t think I could love something not human as much as I love her.

One day, when the boys are flown, we will both have foster teens but now, we will add lots of rescue pups too.

I think this may have been the best year of my life.

Not the happiest, not the most exciting, not the easiest but it’s been the most peaceful, the most accomplished, the most connected, the most developed, the most telling.

Society sells us on ‘happiness’ and ‘success’ but happiness is an emotion and emotions pass. And so it is a cycle of want and need and striving.

This year I learnt that peace is the pinnacle, not happiness and that peace is a fully achievable state. It neither wants nor needs nor requires acquisition.

I learnt that my peace was often historically broken by societal expectations of what ‘happiness’ looks like to others.

We see ‘happiness’ as going out, texting, seeing lots of people, posting on social media etc. ‘Happiness’ is almost the witnessed. Peace has no desire to be seen (she says, posting on social media!)

I also noticed that entering one’s cocoon is viewed as ‘bad’, possibly as it is witnessed as the antithesis of what ‘happiness’ looks like.

People are rushed out of their cocoons or hibernation, even childhoods, yet if you pull a butterfly out of its cocoon too quickly it won’t have developed its wings.

I’m so glad I got back in the cocoon I’d never stayed in long enough. Drawing, writing, carving, painting, singing, tending to my home, loving nature.

One of the most valuable things I’ve learnt is that I have very secure object constancy. I don’t assume my relationships have changed when I don’t speak with someone.

Modern society (social media/texting etc) had me feeling deep guilt at not being in regular contact with those I love, as if everyone is suddenly under the impression that attachments are fleeting and friendship and family isn’t constant and continuous. Is this new? Is this social media influence?

I’m still working on the feeling of guilt at not being in phone contact as much as society tells us we should.

Don’t get me wrong, no one is demanding contact, it’s a societal construct I have internalised somehow and I wonder if a lot of other people have the notion too.

Perhaps a clever undercurrent that keeps us on our phones.
