You are invited to explore the fascinating realm of fungi, from the delicate gills of mushrooms to the expansive, invisible mycelium networks beneath our feet. Celebrate the diversity, mystery, and interconnectedness of fungi in all their forms.

Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly. Consider the cycles of growth and decay, the symbiotic relationships that fungi form, or their cultural and scientific roles. Fungi embody dualities: they are both life-giving and life-taking—agents of healing and disease, creation and decomposition. Let this complexity inspire your work.

Online Collection Highlight: "If a Block should Tumble" by Bob Mosier

Bob writes, "This piece uses the Thread Painting technique, the continuous movement of fabric under a sewing machine needle. After the surfaces are all machine stitched, they are then constructed – sewn by hand into 3-dimensional shapes. Some of the volume is implied employing traditional shading, others are truly 3-D. In 'If a Block should Tumble' I used both techniques hoping to both, fool the eye and fool the mind. My background in welding steel sculpture is evident in my fabric work. At 64 (And after 2 shoulder surgeries), I began looking back to my sewing machine to find a way to extend my need to create. My first Thread Paintings were full value drawings from years of sketchbooks for sculpture, but gradually I began to build the actual 3-D constructions these drawings had always implied."

Bearing Witness will be on view at the The Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County in Moorhead, Minnesota from October 10 - December 27, 2026.

StitchPunk will be on view at the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum in Temple, Texas from October 9, 2026 - January 16, 2027.

There is just over a week left to enter CONTINUUM: quilts x fiber!

This call will celebrate the broad-spectrum of quiltmaking, from traditional to experimental, functional to conceptual, we want to see it all!

The exhibition juried by artists Jacob Hashimoto, Kenny Nguyen, and Victoria Findlay Wolfe, will be featured in an online exhibition hosted by SAQA. Selected work will be eligible for an on-site exhibition at the International Quilt Museum, June 2 through November 11, 2028.
