A Message Sent, but Never Received.

Hi Daddy,
I know heaven is a beautiful place now because it has you. I will smile because I know you loved me whole heartedly until the day you went away and will keep loving me till the day we meet again. I will forever drown in the memories of us as there is so much I’m surrounded by that will constantly keep you on my mind. Just around the corner from mommy’s house in Nutley, every time I visit I’ll pass my childhood home where I got to be with you everyday, where I had not a care in the world, where I was happy and I was with you. That house is where you gave me my first car, my pink and white Barbie jeep. Oh how my collection has grown. My love for cars brought us closer as I’ve grown up. I’ll never forget how proud you were when I told you me and my friends changed the struts in the cobalt on our own in a parking lot, or how impressed you were by my vinyl wrapping skills. There’s not another man in this world I would want to spend an hour bickering back and fourth with with flash lights on our heads trying to figure out the routing for the serpentine belt in my 370Z. I would trade the best day of my life just to fix one more car with you. If there is anything in this world that I know for sure, it’s that you were my biggest fan. No matter what I wanted to do with my life, from being a dispatcher, wanting to be a firefighter, and even as crazy as working in the morgue, you never doubted me and everything was the greatest accomplishment to you. I will never have to question if I made you proud, but hang in there daddy, I’m not done yet. Everything I do will be for you, and for you I will not give up on a thing until I reach my dreams. And when I do I’ll be able to look up at you and say Daddy I finally did it. Goodbyes are not forever, and goodbyes are not the end, it simply means Im going to miss you until we meet again. Like the tattoo we share, no matter where I go in life I’ll always find my way back to you, and every day I will pray that we find our way back to each other soon. by @sara_elphick

Hi Daddy,
A year ago today I titled my speech to you “a message sent, but never received.” A year later I know that every message sent to you, is received. I was so hung up on the idea that a year ago today I woke up across the country in California, walking around and shopping for a new shot glass for you because our deal was every place I traveled I’d bring you one home so you could drink around the world with me. I finally found the shot glass that screamed you, I text you to let you know. Carried on with my day waiting for you to answer so I could show you a photo. Till I got the call, the call I always warned you about, and I couldn’t fathom that you were never going to answer and you were never going to see it. I couldn’t fathom that being across the country was the reason I couldn’t be there with you before you left. I always told you in the kitchen over dinner “if I ever get a call that you die on that motorcycle I will bring you back to life and kill you myself.” You certainly found a way to call me out on my bluff this time. Over the last year I’ve sent you so many messages, and I know you’ve received them. I know for 10 years you wouldn’t have kept the title to the Camaro hidden in the couch cushions, I asked and you answered. I know I would not put the keys to the Camaro in my sock drawer, but I asked and you answered. They always say never drive faster than your guardian angels can fly, and if there’s anything I know about you, you will never let me be faster. What had started as “a message sent but never received,” quickly turned into “a message sent, but received somewhere.”
Enjoy your wings, Daddy we all know you got them hooked up to an LS3.
