🗣️ Back to Band Camp we go! 🎺

There’s a variety of reasons why resistance bands are great to add to your workout. I personally love how they keep your form in check. You can’t really “cheat” while using them… unlike free weights, where it’s easy to rely on momentum to finish the move… a band is like, hmmm nope! Good try! You HAVE to actively push through and finish with control.

Safe and effective. I like it. I like it UH-LOT! taken in Venice California 90291 by @saraames.pilates

🌼💪 One of the best benefits in Pilates is the brain and body connection. You use your thoughts to positively influence your body’s reaction to the physical movement. It’s a learned skill that people of all ages can conquer and when practiced consistently… it will stay with you your entire life. (That’s why it’s so important for both the trainer and client to have great cueing and focused attention! You get so much more out of it!)

Dancers for example move gracefully because of their body awareness, which is a skill that takes years of practice. As we get older, the more prone we are to injury and falling, so when we’re actually aware of our positioning in space… it can only improve our balance and stability! It’s also a “use it or lose it” type of skill… so let’s use it, yeah?! 🤪

This connection not only benefits you physically… it helps with mental clarity overall, since you’re actively practicing conquering your thoughts.

It’s one of the many reasons they say movement is the best medicine…

Who doesn’t want some of that?!! ✨

Baby got BACK. As in our actual back… because we’re using it!

Joe Pilates once said - “If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you’re old; if it’s completely flexible at 60, you’re young.”

A quote from me - “Stop slumpin’, get pumpin’.”

Just as inspirational! 😉 Both true.

10-20 reps each, and repeat. (Reverse the hand that presses up first on the planks, and switch sides for the single knee obliques.)

Everything is nice and slowww… except QUICK swimming! Count a slow 10 seconds there, then hold everything up and out LENGTHENING for another 10!💪 BREATHE. taken in Los Angeles, California by @saraames.pilates

Quick and simple arm and shoulder series you can do anywhere. 💪

You can use just your body weight or add light hand weights if you’d like. This video is sped up, but you want to go slow to add *tension and resistance* as if moving through drying cement. 1-3 sets of 10.

• Pull your abs in and up, collarbones wide, and keep your shoulder blades rolled back and down.

• When twisting - use your obliques to bring you back center! taken in Venice California 90291 by @saraames.pilates

Some examples you can do with a ball to challenge your core and stability! (no ball works too!) Keep squeezing the ball for armwork - honestly, squeeze everything… you’ll need it here! Don’t forget to switch sides and get ready to sweat! 😅

(Very glad my upstairs neighbor is away while I played what I like to call “sportsball” for a hot sec!)

Also - this ssssong and the original… 🔥🫠 taken in Los Angeles, California by @saraames.pilates

Not gonna lie. My body has been 🥴 lately! After battling the worst stomach flu I’ve ever had last week - this girl needed a minute!

With that said, it’s so important to listen to what your body is telling you and know it’s “ok” to chill. So today felt nice to get my heart rate up again in a GOOD way! …even if it took everything in me to do it.

These moves are definitely core and upper body focused - Slow is best! 10x each side - for an extra challenge add in pulses where it feels right.

• LENGTHEN from head to toe as you extend your leg out and keep your abs engaged to stay steady.

• Keep your focus down with a long neck, and on the 3rd move pull your abs up to the ceiling as your focus changes to your knee then back to neutral.

• Actively press your hand(s) into the mat to light up your triceps.

• The last 2 are great for balance. There’s no room to cheat! *self correction* keep your side hand flat! taken in Los Angeles, California by @saraames.pilates

Taking notes from my coach, Nahla! 🐶

1-3 sets of 10!

These moves are a perfect way to end your day. You could even try it laying on the couch, who’s to judge?!

I once saw my mom eating popcorn with one hand and lifting a hand weight with the other… it’s fine! 😂 - Just move! taken in Los Angeles, California by @saraames.pilates
