Just added one more batch of tickets to “Where Do We Go From Here? Odes to Music That Keeps Us Alive” on Monday April 20 at @superblue.art !! ^___^ 🎶💕

Joining Threshold Singers just over a year ago has changed my life (and my death!) deeply and I’m so so grateful for the opportunity to share our bedside singing ritual with you in the Pulse Topology room under 3,000 lightbulbs flickering with individual heartbeats.

It feels especially meaningful and personal to share this thing we do alongside a group of poets from South Florida who so bravely channeled and recounted their own experiences with both grief and wonder to write odes for this show.

In Threshold Singers we sing to people who are dying. Sometimes that takes place at the foot of a hospital bed, or in a hospice care hallway outside the literal threshold of a door, across from an open casket, or in the room of a church where we rehearse each week, a practice in sitting with our own (and each others) mortality. This week we get to sing to you as you cross your own thresholds and experience your own little deaths. What an honor. Come cry 💕

On Monday April 20 @miamisoundspace’s Threshold Singers and a group of local poets will fill the Pulse Topology room at Superblue Miami with a compelling arrangement of tender melodies and original poetic odes written to life-affirming music. 🎶

O, Miami and project manager @saragomez invite you to enjoy a cup of tea and bask in the communal sound bath, modeled after Threshold Singers’ end-of-life and bedside singing practice. We will gather under 3,000 lightbulbs flickering with individual heartbeats and witness each other in the light of shared love and grief. 💕

🌟Important: This show is dedicated to those who identify as suicide survivors: anyone who lives/has lived with suicidal ideation, has survived a suicide attempt, and/or the loss of a loved one to suicide. Mention of death, loss, and experience with mental illness are to be expected.

O, Miami will provide the services of Anthony Torres, LCSW on site for any instances where additional emotional support is needed.

This event is produced in partnership with Born This Way Foundation. All are invited to complete the Be There Certificate, a free, self-paced learning experience designed to increase mental health literacy and provide the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to safely support anyone who may be struggling with their mental health, before or after this event. Autumn brought windstorms and fallen trees, scattered leaves on the sidewalk, grey-white skies washed in clouds, transitional blues everywhere else. Winter arrived dark and reliably long; I settled into slowness and woke on an average day startled by my own shadows: darker and longer than I remembered. I missed the Sun and loved the Moon, yearned for touch and a time machine. I looked for relief in words and in its absence found a silence I could trust. The soil felt me waiting, knew me patient. The elements trusted me back. Today is the first day of Spring and this little bud is ready to bloom. 🌦️🌱🌻

For the last 8 months I’ve had the privilege of frolicking in the @omiamifestival universe, doing what I really, really love: tending to our individual and collective dreams of a more connected, loving, sweet, and poetic world. Emphasis on *sweet*. 🍒🍓🍇🍎🍉🍑🍊🥭🥭🥭🥭

Please join me in the excitement and mark your calendars for April 1, the first *official* day of our month-long, city-wide Poetry Festival - 30 days of programming, pop-ups, poetry, and even more alliteration than usual ☀️
