I found this very friendly, talkative, skinny, intact male cat crying on the 2nd floor of my building on 1st Ave S and 119th ST SW. I took him to the vet to get scanned for a microchip, which he did not have, and the incredible vet tech there offered to keep him for the > 1 week I am about to be out of town.

We have each other's contact information so that I can let him know when I am back in town, since my plan was to take this lovely cat to a shelter in the morning. He is such a sweet, affectionate cat, and I wish I could keep him, but I currently have two cats in my apartment that are very territorial.

Baby's first positive COVID test.

Shame on me for waiting for the 6 month mark to get my booster, and not having gotten it earlier, when all of my coworkers started getting COVID. 🤦‍♀️

I am pretty much only unmasked while indoors at the climbing gym, and otherwise live that sweet, sweet new-KN95-mask-every-time-I-enter-an-indoor-space life.

I *have* been eating inside at work, while trying to be spaced away from everyone, but figured my blissful life entailing not having had COVID could not last, indefinitely, especially after seeing the number of cases of COVID per person detected in wastewater thanks to data hero @michael_hoerger

I am the luckiest and have had sweet Sammy and Sumi by my side, endlessly, purring away (pretty sure sound on means you can hear that lovely purr from the joy that is 18lbs of Sammy... please forgive my puffy face... this congestion is no joke), plus a boss that gets the importance of staying home while unwell (and communicable). 🙏

My attempts to distract my foggy, is-not-great-at-reading-comprehension-right-now-brain with watching the X Files has not been a match made in heaven for my nausea, so if anyone has tips for nerd tv that doesn't trigger my gag reflex, let me know!

Yes, this is a screenshot from the video I shared most recently, zoomed in until it's a pixelated mess, but I can't stop thinking about that @mtbachelor cornice drop from my last trip down there. I did this! It was terrifying!

Thank you so much, @mtbachelor, for all the factors that aligned to have the Summit lift spinning on my last day down there!

Hiking to the summit and dropping in from the top, into the crater, is always a blast. Dropping in from the cornice is especially... presence-inducing.

I saw a silver fox in the Sno Park I slept in on both trips down this year, and it was pure magic! Different from gray foxes, a silver fox is a melanistic (dark-pigmented) variation of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes). You can tell them apart by their tail tips: silver foxes have a white tip, while gray foxes have a black one.

Climbing at Smith Rock is always such a great way to elongate my spine after compacting it from a full day of chasing air! Huge thanks to the group of strangers climbing at the Dihedrals next to me for the stellar lead belays, and for letting me top rope the 5.12s I wasn’t quite ready to lead. It was nice to climb so much faster than I do when LRS-ing!

Big shoutout to the gentleman on the lift who referenced a new-to-me term for Mt. Bachelor’s signature rime ice: skiing on "chicken heads".

I spent my whole last day riding around with 'chicken heeeeeads' in an absurd voice echoing through my brain, and it had me laughing nonstop.

🐔🐔🐔 = 😂

Also, seeing my beloved @kharlirose is always such a treat. I can't believe I got to share time, space, hugs, and laughs with this incredible human twice in a two-week window!

I have been away from social media for a bit (with the exception of checking in on @alpentalwa's Chair 2 replacement updates... because I am obsessed with the top of Denny Mountain), but am here to encourage you all to SUPPORT THESE RAD HUMANS!

And another!!! Thank you so much, @meteoblue for your wind animation weather map, which has been beating my usual favorite, the clouds and precipitation map this week as my favorite weather map!

These storms are so impressive to witness!

I am currently walking around Lincoln Park as the storm rolls in, and there are visible #barrels one could surf forming in the Puget Sound!

I took a break from diagnosing some model decay involving a distribution of input values that should not be allowing for data drift (which has me in deep 🤔 mode), and caught these two magical creatures being their adorable selves!

We’re all so excited to have our power back on, since no power = no cat fountains (along with many other things).

These soft babies have never known the world of drinking still water, and lived on the window sills while we were powerless, staring out, completely transfixed (with Sammy seemingly spooked) after losing our many air purifiers and their lovely white noise that blocks out the sounds from 1st Ave S!
