When I started apartment hunting, I knew I wanted to be led my intuition… not what other people thought was best or even my own list I’d made up.

And it was quite the internal process for someone learning to trust themselves 😅

But I had a few questions that helped guide me as I made the decision:

1. How do I feel here? The body speaks before the mind does, and I trusted my body to know if this place was home or not.
2. Can I imagine myself making this place home? Hanging decorations, arranging furniture, hosting gatherings. If I couldn’t imagine that, it wasn’t meant to be mine.
3. If I were to wake up on a random Tuesday here, how would my body feel? A home is built in the mundane, not just in the big moments. I wanted to know if my body would feel safe and able to relax in this space on a day like any other.
4. Does this place feel expansive or restrictive? A core value of mine is constant growth, and it’s crucial for my home to support that vision.

I actually ended up choosing an apartment that wasn’t what I originally thought I wanted. I think some people would’ve even chosen differently for me. BUT I chose it because the minute I walked through the door, I thought and felt, “This is mine.” Even after the tour, I kept imagining how I could decorate it and what I could do to make it cozier.

In the end, it was an easy yes because my intuition was leading the way, not what others would do or what I thought I initially wanted. Here’s your sign to trust yourself in that next big life step 💕 by @sarah.ldavis
