Querying: Sealed With a Rose
Writing the queer, neurodivergent rep little me needed 🏳️‍🌈 🥀🏰
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In honor of the pitch event TOMORROW, may I present the official guide to Sealed With a Rose, a 105k word sapphic fantasy about a cursed princess and an anxious spell-spinner who escape their tower and find themselves in the midst of a conflict between the old gods and the men who banished them. With no going back and the curse compelling then onward, Liana and Maialen must learn to trust themselves and each other, even when it goes against everything they've been taught to believe. The letter is done (for now), the spreadsheet is color coded, and querying starts this weekend! #querying #agentsguide #sapphicfantasy #pitchevent #fantasyauthor by @sarah.nell.writes

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah, full time academic and aspiring fantasy author. My current WIP, tentatively titled "The Spider's Rose," is about two women afflicted with a forbidden magic who escape from their tower and embark on a quest to save each other. I'm in the middle of what I hope is a final round of edits before sharing with beta readers, with the (optimistic) hope of querying at the end of the year. I'm very much still figuring things out and love connecting with other writers in various stages of their journey -- in times like these, we all need a community. I'd love to have you along for the journey! #writerscommunity #fantasywritersofinstagram #writersofinstagram #debutauthor by @sarah.nell.writes

Thrilled and a little terrified to share The Changeling Girl, winner of the @fracturedlit Ghosts, Fables, and Fairy Tales I've been pretty open in this space about my neurodivergence and mental health (one of the many reasons I'm grateful for this little corner of the internet), but I wasn't officially diagnosed until last year. A lot of things made a lot more sense. For all the other folks who don't quite feel real, this one's for you 💜💜💜 Full link in bio (a new thing I get to say!) #flashfiction #neurodivergent #changeling #authorlife #fairytales by @sarah.nell.writes

REPOSTED because apparently Instagram is suggesting AI music and we don't do that around here. Once again!! Out of context quotes from Sealed With a Rose, all of which came directly from my brain (for better or for worse) #writerspromptparty #sapphicfantasy #writingfriends #noai by @sarah.nell.writes

Another fantastic prompt from #writerspromptparty !! Maialen, Liana, and Silva all have very distinct voices (and strong opinions) and I love them all dearly 😅❤️ Sealed With a Rose is a sapphic fantasy about two women who escape from the tower shielding them from a forbidden divine magic and find themselves in even bigger trouble... Querying now 🥀🏰🔥 #sapphicfantasy #amquerying #fantasywritersofinstagram #queryingauthor by @sarah.nell.writes

When a cursed princess and an anxious spell-spinner do the unthinkable and escape from the tower shielding them from a forbidden divine magic, they must learn to trust themselves and each other to find their way free of a Federation convinced of their corruption, a brewing conflict with the old gods--not nearly as banished as the priests pretend --and a wicked spell-spinner intent on finally claiming her prize. Sealed With a Rose is a 105,000 word sapphic fantasy, querying now!! Thanks to #writerspromptparty for another great prompt!! #sapphicfantasy #querying #fantasywritersofinstagram #writingaesthetic by @sarah.nell.writes

Do I still vividly remember the shame of trying to erase my answers when I finally got to the last question? Yes. Did I learn my lesson? Apparently not 🤣 Which, honestly, probably sums up my aesthetic pretty well 🤣🤣 #writerspromptparty #writingaesthetic #neurodivergent #fantasywritersofinstagram #storyaesthetic by @sarah.nell.writes

Instead of refreshing QueryTracker a bajillion times a day, I'm going through my notes app and the many random (unhelpfully named) docs of ideas. (This is a lie. I'm doing both.) Which of these *incredibly well thought out* projects should I dive into first?? Yes, that is a pun because two of these ideas are related to the sea. I'm doing GREAT, why do you ask?? #newworkinprogress #authorlife #amquerying #fantasywritersofinstagram #authorsofinstagram by @sarah.nell.writes

In honor of my own brief obsessive spiral, please enjoy the ways on which mental health makes an appearance in Sealed With a Rose 🥀🔥 If anyone's looking for a sapphic fantasy about a cursed princess and an anxious spell-spinner who escape the tower shielding them from a forbidden divine power, only to find themselves caught between a Federation convinced of their corruption, the old gods--not quite as banished as the priests pretend --and a wicked spell-spinner intent on finally claiming her prize, I have it 🫠 #amquerying #mentalhealth #querytrenches #sapphicfantasy #queryingauthor by @sarah.nell.writes

I believed everyone when they said querying is rough. I thought I was prepared. Turns out I was not 🤣 All is well, just figuring out the balance amidst life and work. Advice and/or animal pictures are always appreciated 💜 #querytrenches #amquerying #queryingauthor #catsofinstgram #authorlife by @sarah.nell.writes
