Fast forward to today, and the NIL economy offers women far more opportunities. Although they lag behind men in the NIL market, they still make up nearly a third of NIL deals, and Opendorse projects that NIL spending on women’s sports will reach $663.3 million by 2027-2028, more than double the $305.9 million brands invested in women in 2021-2022.
Fuller certainly missed out on that boom. Front Office Sports estimates she could have earned roughly $160,000 both in 2020 and in the year following her historic kick. (Fuller was able to sign with Wasserman while enrolled as a graduate student at North Texas in 2021, when NIL was first permitted.) And although her experience eventually led her to a career at NOCAP Sports — an enterprise that connects universities, athletes, and brands to maximize earning potential, drive revenue and build long-term equity — it’s hard to ignore Fuller’s missed potential in a marketplace that didn’t yet exist.
“Everybody was making money off of me except for me,” she said. “And that was crazy. There was nothing I could do to write a book or monetize a YouTube channel.”

I had the privilege of interviewing THE @sarah_f27 (aka the first woman to score in a P5 football game) and discussing how much has changed (and not changed) in college sports following her historic kick. Her story is the gold standard of turning a missed opportunity into a game-changing move. Link to my latest for Extra Points is in my story and bio! 🏈✨ by @sarah_f27

Still can’t believe I got to speak at the New York Stock Exchange last week 🤯💸🔔

A few years ago I was kicking footballs at Vandy. Last week, I was at the New York Stock Exchange talking NIL and the business of college sports 💸🔔

At @nocapsports, I get to help build what’s next. Where athletes have the power and the opportunity.

The athlete economy is real… and it’s here to stay. 🚀 taken in Wall Street, New York by @sarah_f27
