Proud to have witnessed a milestone week for the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region! 🇹🇿🌊

Last week, our country Tanzania had the honor of hosting the prestigious Nairobi Convention COP 12🎊🎊.
This wasn’t just another conference—it was a highly productive space driven by action, science, and regional cooperation for sustainable conservation.

A few key takeaways that stood out to me;
🌊Blue Carbon Opportunities: An eye-opening look at how science directly links to practical, real-world solutions through both financed and non-financed services.

🚢Nature-Based Solutions (NBS): A powerful reminder that we don’t have to choose between protecting nature and helping people. They go hand-in-hand.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒Inclusivity & Well-being: True sustainability means leaving no one behind. I was thrilled to see strong integrations of gender equality and mental well-being woven into our conservation strategies. by @sarah_marambo

When conservation land on a mangrove forest🤩💚🌳🦀!!!Guess what; it is a home to variety of estuary species naturally and serves as a great site for crab farming.When we cut down one mangrove we disrupt multiple lives including the economic value chain of the ecosystem.

Such an honour to attend the Tanzania Green Summit 2026. An incredible space that open doors for green innovators to engage with financial institutions, policy makers, relevant environment stakeholders and make real business deals!

As a conservationist and young researcher : focus on balancing what capital drives and how nature responds.It is a reminder also to focus on climate smart actions that address local problems.

➡️Grateful for the connections and ready for what’s next!!🎊

On this World Environment Day , I am deeply grateful for the invaluable experience gained through the Biodiversity Monitoring Field Training and Monitoring Program (BiMO) offered by @naturetanzania_birdlife in partnership with the Department of Zoology and Wildlife Conservation of the University of Dar es Salaam.

Throughout the 6th Cohort training on May various aspects were covered;
🔸Biodiversity Inventory and Monitoring
🔸Avian and pollination ecology
🔸Birds survey techniques
🔸Ecological monitoring in mountain Stream habitats
🔸Scientific writing and publications

📣Covering @amani.naturereserve as one of the Tanzania’s East Usambara Mountains with unique ,biologically important sub-montane forest ecosystem, its a great move for further Research Studies and ecotourism.
