What a day, what a dog, what a Mitzvah!
This weekend, surrounded by her friends and family Penny was welcomed into Jew-ish adulthood. THANKYOU to all who made this #barkmitzvah so unforgettable for my eldest #dogther. Life is short, do the things that make you happy with those you love.

PSA for anyone considering doing acupuncture and PT for their senior dogs. Penny is probably about 13, has many an injury, is riddled with arthritis, and has some other old lady health issues but you would never know! But she’s feeling herself and waiting on her mom to host a barkmitzvah for her. Forever grateful to the Dr. Lavacca at North Torrington Veterinary Hospital for keeping her her spunky self! I cannot recommend this practice enough! Everyday she tries to take me out at the knees is a blessing. 🤣

Though historians argue if you truly share your birthday with another important member of the tribe, today we celebrate YOU! Thank you for teaching me all the important life lessons: the importance of community, friendship, family, to stand up for what I think is right and always keep my vodka in the freezer.

Sappy Post Alert: Soundness scares and some health setbacks shifted our plans this summer, but we are both starting to feel more like ourselves everyday. It may not have been our show season, but every ride with her reminds me how lucky I am to have my Cher Mare. It’s not our first rehab rodeo and I am so so thankful for the tools and team we have developed along the way. Thank you @millingtoneq @doctortrawicks for all you continue to do, @bluewoodfarm for the OG rehab tools and giving me the confidence to bring her back, Vicki for the lessons and phone calls, @bearpawbarn for literally holding us together through this and keeping me safe and sane, and to everyone else who has held my hand along the way. The journey isn’t linear, and who knows what tomorrow holds… but everyday & every ride is a gift.
