Tomorrow would have been Chester’s 14th birthday, and I’ve found myself smiling through tears as I’ve looked back through these photos today. 🤍

People often say a dog is part of the family.
Chester wasn’t just part of my family, he was my partner in life.

He went everywhere with me. Beaches. Road trips. Bookstores. Anthropologie. Nordstrom. Coffee shops. Client meetings. Therapy visits. If I had permission to bring him, he came. And somehow, he always made every place better simply by being there.

He wasn’t just my best friend, he lit up my life.

People were drawn to him. Children trusted him. Strangers smiled when they met him. As a therapy dog, he comforted veterans, listened to children read, visited nursing homes, and reminded people that love doesn’t always need words.

The greatest gift he gave me wasn’t just his love.

He taught me to let a dog be a dog. To embrace the mud, the sand, the smells, the adventure. To slow down, be present, and find joy in ordinary moments.

One of the things I miss most is something so simple… the way he smelled. The moment I’d bury my face in his neck, my whole body would relax. Home smelled like Chester, and somehow that meant everything was okay.

Looking through these photos today, I realize they aren’t just pictures of a beautiful dog. They’re snapshots of a life we shared together.

Some souls leave paw prints.

Chester left light.

Thank you for teaching me how to let a dog be a dog… and, in the process, how to be a little more present, a little more joyful, and a little more myself.

I’ve had so much fun helping bring a little Barbie magic to life for the opening of Barbie and Friends at ESSE Purse Museum this Thursday!

We’re transforming AVA models Olivia and Devyn into two iconic Barbies — the original 1959 Barbie and the groundbreaking 1980 Black Barbie — complete with vintage-inspired wardrobe, hair and makeup. ✨

Come see the exhibition, celebrate opening night, and get your photo taken with our real-life Barbies! 💗

Every summer, Rosie the box turtle finds her way back to my garden. Sharing a few treats and a few quiet moments with her reminds me how special it is to slow down and notice the wildlife all around us. Vintage is my favorite — every piece already has a story, and we just get to add a new chapter.

The textures, the colors, the shapes — everything from @essemuseumandstore felt like it stepped out of another era but somehow still works right now.
