Going into this summer, I thought I knew what it would look like. I thought I was going to go and change hearts, to serve, to give, to make a difference in the lives of others. And I hoped I would. But what I didn’t realize was that the person who would be changed most profoundly was me.

In Ethiopia, I saw God move in ways that humbled me completely. I watched communities transformed not by my efforts, but by His presence and love. I realized that abiding in Christ is not only about what we can do for Him, it’s about what He does in us when we choose to stay close. When we lay down our comfort, our plans, our pride, and surrender fully, He reshapes our hearts. He softens what needs healing, ignites what needs fire, and stretches what needs growth. I came expecting to give, but I left having received more than I could ever put into words. Abiding isn’t passive. It’s costly. It’s obedience that sometimes feels uncomfortable, inconvenient, or even impossible. It’s saying yes to God when it asks something of you, when it asks you to let go of control, when it asks you to risk your heart for His purposes. And yet, it’s also the most freeing, joyful, and life-giving choice we can make.

This summer also reminded me of the beauty of community. My family and my friends, who have become more like sisters, walked alongside me through laughter, tears, and growth. Their courage, love, and faith reflected God’s goodness and challenged me to abide more fully, love more deeply, and surrender more completely. I came home with a heart on fire for Him, ready to obey boldly, give fully, and remain close no matter where He leads next. I am more aware than ever that following Jesus is not about comfort or ease. It’s about surrender. It’s about costly obedience. It’s about laying down our lives so that His love can shine through us in ways that are bigger than we could ever imagine.

So abide in Christ. Surrender fully. Obey boldly. Lay down your life. And trust Him with the rest. Because when we do, He changes us in ways we never expected, and that change is the most beautiful gift of all. by @sarahh.ebert

Still processing the joy, love, and pure worship I encountered through God’s children in Ethiopia. It’s hard to put into words what this trip meant. Every smile, every moment of worship, every shared story pointed to our God who is already there, already loving, already moving. I am grateful I got to be part of it for just a small moment. What a great God we serve 🤍 #stayhydrated

11 years gone in the blink of an eye. So grateful for all of the coaches, teammates, family, and friends that have helped me along the journey. From playing against the cubs, to wearing it on my jersey. I am so beyond blessed to have spent my last two seasons at AHHS. The blood, sweat, and tears were so worth it. I will never forget the memories this sport has given me. Sad to think I will never put this jersey on again.
