It has been a year now since I landed in Barcelona to assist @___887l / @ombredansleau in the development of Shifting Landscapes. An architectural project, a sculpture, a performance and film that I’m so honored to be a part of. Here is the film teaser shot on 16mm from the performance. More to share soon.

Yoko Ono’s Sky Piece to Jesus Christ + Cut Piece

This past weekend I was privileged to take part in producing this recreation of Yoko Ono’s Sky Piece to Jesus Christ with @lachamberorchestra and Cut Piece with @mpa_mpa_mpa. A moment of Fluxus history thanks to the artists, The Broad team (@edpatuto @darinklein.andfriends @jana_juhl & Omar!), and REDCAT.

Moments from our ‘Holding Fire’ opening reception @nicksceramicsstudio on June 20th. Thank you to everyone that came out and to the incredible team at Nick’s for having us. I’m still reeling from being with so many people I love in one room and on the solstice nonetheless ➿

Co-created with candlemaker, @giasworld_______ / @moss.earth, this collaborative body of work features wax and clay sculptures that take on sigil-like forms, making way for transformation, transmutation, and an honoring of the (seemingly) mundane. The invocation of the four elements (earth, water, fire and air) serves as a path to coalescence, while the abstractions of gates (particularly wrought-iron gates found commonly throughout Los Angeles) gestures towards notions of boundaries, parameters and what closeness really means. These works share a sense of possibility in the ordinary, in the ground, in what is here (right now).

‘Holding Fire’ is currently on view through July 25th at Nick’s Ceramics in South Pasadena (10am - 6pm daily, closed Tuesdays.)

A sculpture that holds water, wax and fire. Inspired by improvisational functionality, sound & rhythm, abstracting gates & boundaries, the idea that we are everything, and devotion.

This will be shown in our Holding Fire exhibition at Nick’s Ceramics ( @nicksceramicsstudio ), 1509 Mission St, South Pasadena. Our opening reception is this Saturday on the evening of Summer Solstice, June 20th, from 7-9pm. RSVP in my bio. by @sarahphenix_
