“Joy is not guaranteed”- a lesson 2020 taught meLast year was one of the hardest years yet. I was so sure I had an understanding of why it’s important to seek happiness, until the moment life gave me a real reason to be sad and angry. 2020 I lost and despite the kind words of many, I felt frozen in a state of grief and alone.Moving forward, I’m beginning to learn that it’s in these low moments (most importantly) that we should actively look for the silver linings in situations, laugh harder and say nice things about ourselves and others because we can’t depend on life to keep us smiling; it has its own to-do list and your happiness may not always be on it.In confession, “stay positive” was one of the kind words that would grate on my nerves and I would roll my eyes internally every time. But after fumbling into actually doing it, it’s become a mantra and things like hope and faith have become such medicinal concepts for me. I’m no expert at it because I still cuss and still have bad days, but holding negative vibes can really eat at your youth and life is too short. Create memories and hold onto every good moment, because it’s these precious times that might rescue you in darker days. by @sarahpsinclair
