Crew, and my bday present from Maggie was an amazing snuggle with otters (and a wort hog, capybaras, and visits with porcupines, an armadillo, some dogs, a bobcat, owls, foxes, cows, and sloths and more!)
My heart is full, unlike Maggie’s tummy after we were abducted by a restaurant staff and released without feeding her, 7 days later. What a weekend 😅 did I complain? Yes. Did I throw myself down and cry to the staff and other abductees? Of course. But it was fun (for me. Not for her or anyone else. Probably. Sometimes you just have to do things for yourself) by @sarahstepp

August, in no particular order.
Was a month of being deeply loved by my people, learning things I loved learning and things I never wanted to learn, but I’ll take it all, because isn’t that the point of our time here? To grow and move forward?
Here’s to September- may you be soft and gentle and full of goodness (but if you can’t manage that, maybe just keep the hope coming. I can survive on hope.) 🩵 by @sarahstepp

Camping in Maine! We escaped the crazy air quality in Ohio last week and went to Maine to explore Mount Desert Island and Acadia. We knew very little about it, but learned SO much. The people are kind, the food is great, the weather was chilly, but we kept warm with fires and Larrie’s favorite sleeping bag. Our campsite was a biophile’s dream- wild edible trails, and lots of wildlife around us. We hiked up cliffs and rocky beaches, kayaked in a working harbor, and rock hounded on Mount Apatite. Larrie and Ben were the best travel buds 🤍🩵
10/10 would recommend a Maine adventure 🩵🤍 by @sarahstepp

I’ve never been a “find your tribe” “girl gang” girl -gag- The fakeness that has always accompanied phrases like that (in my personal experience, only) made me physically nauseous, and I stay as far away from it as possible, but still get a little jealous that other women seem to find real connection in those things (be honest- is it real? It’s okay if it is- I’m just an outsider asking questions bc I’ve never had it before).
This past weekend I was given the chance to do a girly retreat, and I think I’ll be processing it all for a while. It’s rare to feel understood and seen by more than one person at a time- especially in a “retreat”-type of setting. Actually, every women’s event I’ve ever attended (EVER) has left me feeling lonely, sad, and “not good enough”- until this one. What a gift it was to spend time with so many precious humans, to learn about plants (and science), and to experience healing through sound and vibration and movement, and… understanding.
I’m not going to throw out a generic “go find your tribe!” here, bc honestly, if you’re like me, it’s not that easy, and you might be disappointed the first several times you try. But I WILL say this:
Look for them. Be vulnerable. Listen to your intuition. Keep at it. Genuine women that share your values DO exist, and it’s worth making an effort to find them🖤 So grateful to have been invited and included in this special event 🖤 @cultivatingwildwomen taken in Fruitdale Farm by @sarahstepp

Some things to know about this weekend: we gave Zach up for adoption and within a mere two hours, someone had found him and taken him to his new home. I can only hope it’s a happy one but idk, it was a sketchy alley where we left him. Best of luck. We beer crawled (even though we don’t “beer”), we found things on the ground and put them on our heads but not in our mouths, we made faces at every single opportunity. We played and drummed and plotted in the rain, we supported our lgbtq+ community, and we laughed a lot. We bubbled, we flipped cups, we saved Valerie from being trafficked. Kristen’s bat went through phases of happiness. We also volunteered and at the best food pantry I’ve ever seen. by @sarahstepp
