You just became a pastors wife? Or you are struggling? This is what I would tell you over coffee ☕️ 👇🏼

1. 🩷Your lows will be low & your highs will be so high - you will get the greatest honor and privilege of walking beside people in the brightest of days & in the darkest of times. It’s an HONOR & blessing. Weddings, deaths, births, child loss, surrender, addiction, divorce, reconciliation, being hated, being loved. Etc etc

2. 🙏🏼YOU have to be consistent and always filled up- if you (and your hubby) are not consistent and filling your cups with the word of God, listening to sermons if needed etc you probably won’t make it. It’s your life line. If you aren’t connected to the vine you will quite literally wither up.

3. 🧍‍♀️ people will LOVE you- and people WILL hate you. Sometimes people will do both- and that is really hard to walk through. I have really good friends all over the country, (that weren’t at our current churches) that became life lines for me in times of distress. Also refer back to #2- there will also be seasons when it’s only you, God and your family on your team. Lean into that and grow 🌱

4. Your hubbys job commands and demands alot, and it’s always changing and can be inconsistent. Someone is in the hospital? It’s ok, I’ll take the girls to the park and get a pizza. Late night meetings helping a couple through a marriage crisis? It’s ok, I’ll watch a girl movie I’ve been dying to see once I get the kids to bed. I could go on and on. This also refers back to #2 & #3

5. When you have kids- get all of their stuff ready the night before church - just trust me, and it gets easier as they get older. 🫶🏻🩷

I usually start with “how much do you love me” ? 😅

He always says yes, is always willing to help me especially with my crazy ideas. (Sans a cow right now 😅)

🥹Why do we do foster care?

Ten years ago, foster care nearly broke our hearts—and yet, here we are, saying yes again.

Because we want to live our lives with eternity in mind.

We want to make our moments here count. We want to live with open hands, remembering that our time, our home, our resources, and even our comfort were never meant to be only about us.

We do it for the kids.

Because none of this is their fault.

We do it because following Jesus was never supposed to be about creating the most comfortable life possible.

It’s a daily invitation to die to ourselves.
To put others first.
To open our hands.
To love when it costs us something.
To be willing to have our plans interrupted for the sake of someone else.

We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus—not just in the things we say, but in the way we actually live.

And we want our children to grow up knowing that too.

We want them to see that there is always room at our table. That our family can stretch. That love isn’t something we have to ration. That sometimes following Jesus looks like making another bottle, losing sleep, rearranging schedules, showing up to appointments, welcoming another car seat into the suburban (if it’s working 😜) and loving a child with your whole heart even when you don’t know how long you get to keep them.

Is it hard? Yes.

It changes your entire family. It requires sacrifice. It asks things of you when you already feel like you have nothing left to give.

But these kids are worth it.

If we get one life to live, we want to spend ours on things that matter for eternity.

So we will keep saying yes when God asks us to.

We will keep making room.

We will keep loving without guarantees.

We will keep choosing people over comfort.

Because someday, when our lives here are over, I don’t think we’re going to wish we had protected our time more, kept our house quieter, or made our lives easier.

I think we’re going to be grateful for every opportunity we had to love someone like Jesus.

This homeschool life can be so overwhelming at times, but the biggest blessing is watching my kids, thrive and flourish. They get plenty of outside time while the weather stays nice, they learn to help make healthy meals and clean up after each one learning how to manage a household, they get plenty of time with their baby sister, they get time with each other to bond and grow. I wouldn’t have it any other way 🥰

I do get it though. I lived it. It took 10 years for me to be ready to do it again. But truly. This.. attachment is the whole point.

We are super passionate in fostering 0-2 and help them form a strong bond/attachment to decrease the chances of RAD 😭 if you don’t know what it is- go research and then pray about how God may have you help.
