Coming back to Experience Camps for my second year felt like coming home.

I only get to spend one week with these people and yet they are some of the greatest humans I have ever met. They’re the first people to cheer you on and support you and also the first to pull you into a hug while you cry. I saw so much resilience and joy in the face struggle and a community that can never quite be captured.

Camps looks like: dancing in the rain to Unwritten, an 8 year old camper hugging my crying 13 year old at campfire even though they hadn’t met, scream singing to Fight Song, choreographing lip sync dances like the dance mom I am, and sharing our people & grief with one another. I feel so honored to know and love these kids and their people who have died.

This summer marks 28 years since my dad was taken from me and I hate that this community has to exist, but I’m grateful that it brought me them 💛🫶🏼🏕️🥰🙏🏼✨🎶🫰🏼👯‍♀️🦋🌈 by @saralily27

This weekend I had the privilege of volunteering with Experience Camps and was able to share my story and talk about my dad. Sometimes songs say it best, and I’m so grateful that @noahkahanmusic wrote a song for my dad, Dan. I know he was with me this weekend in every hug and smile and in all of the magic that I witnessed. Thank you for giving me this camp & these people daddy 🤍🙏🏼✨🎶 by @saralily27
