30 years of RENT on Broadway today. ❤️

I was 13 when I discovered RENT, just a couple months after it opened on Broadway and honestly, it changed my life.

There was something about it that felt different right away. The music, the stories, the rawness of it… it made me feel things I didn’t even fully understand yet. But I knew it mattered and it always stayed with me.

Over the years, RENT has been like a constant friend showing up in different chapters of my life, always hitting a little differently depending on where I am. I’ve seen it multiple times, I know every word to the soundtrack, and somehow it never loses its impact on me.

What I didn’t fully grasp at 13, I understand so much more now the themes of love, loss, friendship, resilience, and what it really means to “measure a life in love.” And honestly, those messages feel even more important with every passing year.

RENT isn’t just a show to me. It’s a piece of my soul.

Today, I’m just feeling really grateful for the music, for the memories, and for a show has stayed with me all these years.

(Most of these pictures are from when RENT closed on Broadway in 2008.)
