i thought i was going to be a lawyer. and i told my friend, im so glad that i had that illusion because it was there when i needed it the most. i’m nothing now (shoutout to afro pessimism). i’m peace now. i get to be whatever i want to be now because the meaning is what i make it. and somebody will read this and not know what on earth im talking about. and somebody else will read it and not understand until years later when it hits them, like an epiphany! and somebody else will read this and it will resonate in a language that exists beyond words. and we’ll laugh. or, at least, i will. because, God, i came to this earth to live. and, God, these last four years i have lived. i have jumped off a cliff (literally and figuratively) and i have flown through the clouds (literally and figuratively) and i have fell on my fucking face (literally and figuratively). i have partied all night and i’ve stayed up all night writing an essay that i had several weeks to work on (it was on the syllabus). i have read books!! i’ve learned so much! i watched rupaul drag race and i played the sims!! i watched everything everywhere all at once and i went to cool alternative art events and community potlucks and open mics!!! i have loved and been loved, i have made friends and lost friends. i’ve been to heaven, i’ve been to hell. i lost my mind! and i’m still alive. thank God, i’m still alive. by @sarealist
