This might be a little controversial for some, but it's important to me that y'all know this is my line in the sand. LLMs were built by stealing from artists and writers. They took millions of books and artwork and did not ask for consent or offer compensation. Beyond its unethical beginnings, I object to the idea of generating art. I don't want to read stories from a thing that has never lived, loved, or lost. Art is so much more than the final output. The book you hold in your hands is the product of a growth process. That process is where the art happens! That's the human part of it all. Sacrificing that cheapens the art and sucks the soul out of it. Humans are not a replaceable part of creating art. Gen AI is not a tool, it's a weapon turned against the person using it.

I will NEVER use AI for any part of my writing process. I will NEVER condone AI for my covers or marketing. I actively avoid it in every aspect of my digital life. I think too highly of you to offer you something hollow. I think too highly of myself to engage with it. My work may be flawed, but it is utterly, irrevocably mine.

My book is at the Obama Presidential Library!!!! 🤯 I'm so honored! I wish I could visit! I can't make it to Chicago anytime soon, but I will send a signed (and personalized if you want) copy of Unlock the Dark to the first person who DM's me pictures of my book in the Obama Center!

Yesterday I went to downtown Nashville to celebrate the release of @kristintubb's new novel, The Spiritualists!! This MG historical heist is perfect summer reading for teens! Definitely don't skip the prologue in this one! It was a delight running into so many friends and getting an EERILY accurate but super encouraging tarot reading from @ericaivyrodgers! I love visiting Nashville because there is always a bookish event, and I always meet the most amazing people! Congrats to Kristin on a fab event for an awesome new book!!! 🎉 by @sasahawk

I've been on a little writing break since meeting my deadline, but I haven't slowed down at all! I'm renovating a few parts of my house, cleaning out, and catching up on allll the chores I ignored while on deadline. But this morning, I'm on break!! Bring on the delicious mocha, cookie the size of my face, and a cozy novel!
