In our last session we created signs for our bedrooms which represent us as individuals - featuring visual elements that we love or are proud of 🌟

I am blown away by the creativity during the Arts and Crafts sessions with @urbondyouthdevelopment as part of @portsmouthcitycouncil’s HAF Fun (Holiday Activities and Food) programme for school children during the winter holidays

Thanks so much to Hans, Drame, Ruby and Lynsey from @urbond_community for their support throughout 🌈

What an incredible experience to coordinate and deliver Arts and Crafts sessions with @urbondyouthdevelopment as part of @portsmouthcitycouncil ‘s HAF Fun (Holiday Activities and Food) programme for school children during the winter holidays

In our first session we made aeroplanes from pegs and lollipop sticks ✈️ , decorated our own chickens 🐓 and wrote cards to our heroes 💫 taken in Somerstown Central 'the Hub' by @sashdamjanovic

It’s @sashadamjanovic here continuing my takeover. This one is dedicated to collage - to me, nothing’s better than experimenting with found text and images to create new meaning ✨ by @sashdamjanovic

Hi everyone! It’s Sasha Damjanovic (they/she) here doing a takeover for Aspex Portsmouth as part of my artist residency (14 Sep – 23 Dec 2022). I’m a graphic designer and artist, mostly working with collage and type. I’ve participated in community-led projects particularly with young people and youth groups.

Starting off with a brief visual history of my partnership with aspex - I’ve worked intermittently with them since my school work experience in 2010!

Image descriptions:

1. My signature smiley
2. My graduate collection shown in the Platform Graduate Show 2019 with @cvan_se
3. Part of the team that developed the PONToon online exhibition with @interregeurope
4. The Young Curators and @flora_duley posing with my posters and zines developed from their written manifesto

@aspexportsmouth commissioned me to design works of my choice to bring together the thoughts and experiences of the Young Curators - a group of 16-18 year olds guided by @flora_duley

Together they created a manifesto over 5 months of meeting weekly - using this I designed a zine - with each page including a little something doodled or made by one of the YC’s

A1 posters were printed from the zine pages and the badge making station was a personal favourite

This was a real joy to be a part of thanks to all those involved 🔴⚫️

When @unite_students approached me about a design for the main staircase in their Rosalind Franklin building, I knew exactly what direction I wanted to go in.

Using the existing white walls as my ‘paper’ I designed a collage using mid-century photography and images, relating to the life and work of the acclaimed chemist.

I’m very proud of how it turned out. Big thanks to @signshopportsmouth for printing and installing the HUGE vinyl stickers, to @unite_students for trusting me with such an exciting project and to @kasian3wman for doing it justice with these photos by @sashdamjanovic
