Happy 9th birthday to my Little Highwayman, stealing hearts since the day we met! 🖤

We met you in Seattle seven years ago after you spent your puppyhood in Sugarland. We didn’t know anything about your life there except that someone abandoned you and you spent time wandering those Texas streets before Dog Gone Seattle sent you to the PNW.

The day we met in Edmonds, you had just completed the cross country journey and you already had shelter staff on high alert after escaping your cage. You were sprinting the halls, greeting all of your furry neighbors behind bars lol, you seemed wild, but sweet.

We took you home without realizing how much fun and freedom we would experience by your side. You wanted to run along the coast, meet new friends, climb mountains, eat tacos and oysters, and explore new cities.

You are so wise! We try to follow your lead wherever possible, you teach us to be present daily, forgive quickly, make people feel seen, go for walks every day, stop to smell the wind (and chicken bones), rest often, and remain curious about new people, places, and experiences no matter where we are in the world.

I can’t believe I get to know you in this life! I hope we get many more years of happy tail wags, showing love to our people, enjoying the last bite, and walking new paths together ☺️ by @sashperez

Our first week in Barcelona was made so sweet by these cuties sticking around Spain (after many months traveling around Europe!) to walk and eat and laugh and explore with us. 2024 is a big year for us for many reasons but 2016 was big for us too. We got married, twice! First, alongside the Hudson River in NYC and later that month with our families and friends in Playa Del Carmen.
