CAR or AIR.
No matter how you travel, the going and leaving can be a little bit of a time warp. Having just moved, while traveling 3 times in the last two weeks is a muscle building exercise. And as a “window girl”, seeing the largeness of the sky and earth from this vantage point, makes me feel small yet grateful “for as such a time as this.” Looney tunes and all. by @sassafras_studios_

SEASONS.
A life lived, is a heart worn and a heart filled. A heart that is made and measured by moments rather than steps or miles. Behind this post is a life changing. More design now led by managing teams and overseeing and fortifying places for exponential growth. Days traveling, and Days sitting in meetings. Working is never the end goal, but rather the working towards becoming more present and embracing life. Life that births new beginnings and achievements. And this year is nothing short of a some powerfully challenging and some extraordinarily beautiful moments that are pure gold. by @sassafras_studios_

90’S CALLED.
In light of “what were you like in the 90s”? Having recently married, we started our first year of marriage on tour. From California to Oregon to South Dakota. The 90s were life-changing. We found ourselves doing several concerts for the lead singer of Toto when we moved to South Dakota prior to me finding out I was pregnant and wanted to move back home. Having my first child and then two more within a five year period. There was a lot of growing. From California to North Carolina. We put down new roots while trying to help build a gaming company. While changing diapers and being very happy as a mom, I would often get opportunities to help design games and do voiceover work. This eventually led to Set design and the biggest surprise, homeschooling. I have to say when you have children it colors your world in ways that can’t compare to anything you dream about. 90’s was so full of life just like my hair. But what trump‘s everything? My children. Still today, my children.

COOL,COOL,COOL.

Nothing is more luxurious than the thought of having a time and place set aside just for you for some R&R. I’m talking a back yard oasis. Whether that’s “me” time or hang time with family and friends..this room makeover was to showcase and amplify just that. A design presentation room where a client gets to view their future outdoor pool design. By leaning into the European, coastal feel we assigned each detail to serve the sights, sounds and feel of such a moment. Thrilled to have a great team to help pull this room together.

H O M E.

No matter a Sunday, Wednesday or somewhere in between, Life keeps “re-upping”. From birth to death, Life informs our sense of design - from every material and texture that brushes up against us, becomes a watermark to the soul. It’s where: color, lighting, sounds and silhouettes compel us to share and experience it. Now unearth a narrative of our true longing…HOME. It’s that unspeakable beauty, when all senses are aligned in which we feel seen, heard, and loved. It’s the dance of a needle building one beautiful mosaic through the chosen pieces and persons we pulled a little more closer around us. STEPS
There are some things that never stop being a part of the process. Ownership. Not just owning a company or having the vision that leads a crew of five or a crew of 100. It’s owning the realization that to get a thing done you have to step into it. And sometimes this is what design looks like. In 48 hours I was standing in the aisle of LOWE’S locating ceiling tiles and the next day, is walking through a boutique hotel, for some future design. Having being reared as a little girl on a ranch in Southern California, we were raised to work hard and work well. That to make things grow, or to move things ahead, in order to get the benefit of “having”, means “you have to do the doing”. Honestly..I love the rhythm and the randomness of where design takes me and the beauty I’m able to be apart of as well as leave behind. by @sassafras_studios_

ITS A SMALL WORLD.
Flying to California with my family in tow was quite the moment in my memory bank. Though you never know when you’ll be called with the news that your parent has passed, the way you mourn and honor one’s life is in reality celebrating your own. That while you have breath, cry or sing. While you have a hand, hold it. While you have a memory to share, tell it. And while you have a family to embrace, be present. We honor the past by honoring the present. And so we did. Since my mother was literally there the day Disney opened, we did Disney as a family. As well as eating California doughnuts, Del Taco, to visiting lifetime friends/bandmates, to cousins meeting for the first time. Where laughter, snacks, coffee and conversation on every level and volume occurred. Here is just a snapshot of the WHYS to what drives me and elevates my heart. All centered around our small worlds. Where one man’s dream to build and create only created for us as a family a magical time through the memory of what our mother passed on to us. And so the story goes and IS passed on to a new generation. by @sassafras_studios_

HELLO HI-LOW.
2025 was a year. It was met with challenges that left my heart aching and my ears ringing. From my husband’s motorcycle accident, my broken ankle/foot combo, to kids and grandkids milestones and visits from my brother while I healed. This year alone stretched me professionally and personally. But somehow through it all, I became stronger and more clear. More brave and honest. And when at the very end of this month my mother’s passing, I’ve realized that life is messy and answers will sometimes be hard to find. But what I did find was the actual thing that got me through. Being held together by God. The real mystery and beauty of God. Not to mention Others. Others prayers, friendship, laughter, and genuine kindness. And even though “change” came and demanded things of me- I also stand in newly found hope. So yes, 2025 broke me in ways indescribable. But broken and lost things can sometimes be found and healed again. I now know- I for one am not giving up. And certainly leaning into what means the most: Family, friends and valuing the gifts inside the life given me. Here’s to new growth in a variety of ways held quiet and loud. CANDLE WEATHER
The power of a candle is the not what it does to a room but what it naturally brings to the table. Literally.
From solitude it evokes peace.
From a cake it evokes joy. From a grouping, brings community.
This universal people pleaser and people gatherer, is a staple for all unseen moments and star studded events.
Light is not only necessary to our everyday lives but in candle form sets the tone immediately and perfectly.

Color can BE the character in the room OR simply SUPPORT the main character. When dressing to a room that is already in play, you get to choose what you want to pull out of it and how.
