ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 003 ⚡

Next up, we are pleased to introduce an exciting new voice in bass music & beyond: sass @sassracha

sass is a Berlin-based, Brazilian-born DJ and producer who operates at the cultural intersection of music, fashion, and community. Driven by a desire to express the creativity and individuality that shape her music, she crafts a unique sonic language that is as much about social connection and interactions as it is about rhythm.

She's part of 3024's mentorship program and an Ableton bass angel at @femmebassmafia. Her passion extends to her work with @vintenovebailes, a Berlin collective that explores the powerful bond between contemporary bass music and the sounds of Brazil.

For MACHINE LEARNING’s debut, sass curates an electro-defying selection of textures and synths, fusing the power of classic 4-to-the-floor kicks with futuristic sound design iterations. Her creative process resonates so well with us: get ready to see how she pushes the boundaries of electro & breaks on Friday, 10 July at @block1.berlin 🤖

kindred by a shared sonic vision, @courtroomdrama_ & @_neeyuu_ celebrate their upcoming split ep ‘liquid absence’ at @block1.berlin by pairing a listening session with a low-end-driven club night, rooted in embracing the decentralization and plurality of underground electronic dance music. post-genre experimentalism, tactile UK club cuts and latin-adjacent rhythms converge into thoughtfully woven sound narratives made both to spark curiosity and wreak havoc on the dancefloor.

joining the roster is @sassracha, FBM’s bass angel and 3024 Martyn’s mentee, bringing a leftfield approach to vocal-infused bass & breaks to mark her berlin debut.

practice active listening & be kind - absolutely zero tolerance for bigotry of any kind by @sassracha

Last month we were joined by Berlin-based Brazilian artist @sassracha 😍

Sass uses art to navigate the cultural intersections that shape one’s identity, thus her influences draw from her Brazilian roots and the strange feeling of the unknown and under-explored.

Through low-end frequencies, bass music and unusual arrangements, she celebrates the musical heritage of ambivalent roots: what one can or cannot be.

For her guestmix on @chaotic_goods_ she brings forward the blends and plurality that shapes who she is and the art she connects with. Tracks, rhythms and beats that carry the taste of home, created by artists she admires and who live rent-free in her Brazilian subconscious.

Her selection isn’t entirely Brazilian, but also reflects the ongoing exchange, growth and admiration that other cultures, artists and movements have for Brazil’s underground, and how it continues to shape forward-facing sounds across diverse genres. Thus this set represents her own private musical backyard 😍🇧🇷🫶🔊
Thank you so much for this mix! Listen back to this energizing journey on our SC 📡

Tune in to @subtleradio on 23 March at 1pm for a show by our next guest @nina.hjelm 🥰 by @sassracha
