“A mom!”....That was always my answer when I was young and someone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up (well....that or an actress - LOL)! I had it all planned out (like so many others) - married by 23 then 3 kids by 30. God was giggling at me, I’m sure, as His plan was never that. The road was much different for me but that’s ok. After 3 failed IUIs and 1 failed round of IVF since Jan 2019, I can finally say that my dream of mommyhood is coming true, as my 2nd round of IVF worked. Come June 2021, there will be a new King in town - Zion Bronx King, to be exact. Shoutout to Dr Slayden and the nurses at RBA for their continued persistence and care throughout this journey. #3rdtrimester #27weekspregnant #ivf by @sassyb13

Entering this big, bright world outside of my mommy’s tummy was exhausting. So much so, that I slept the entire day away yesterday. I was pricked and poked and disturbed over and over my first night. So glad that’s over! But, the best news is….I’m finally here….so Hello World!

Friday morning, Oct 2nd, Jesus called my stepdad, Arees Akoubian (The Gunny), home. He was 91. He was ready. His body began to decline on him the last few years and he was unable to do some of the things he once did on the daily. We often had to remind him of his age and how God never intended for those above 85, to do yard work in 95 degree weather, or make 10 trips to the car to unload groceries. His Marine Corp mind told him different, however, and he remained frustrated at his inability to still move mountains.

My mom married Arees when I was 8. My dad was still in my life but because I lived with my mom, Arees became the most influential man in my life growing up. He coached me in soccer a few seasons but after coaching only boys previously, he ultimately decided girls were a bit too chatty at practice, and stepped down from his coaching helm. He instilled life safety rules in my brain, that are 2nd nature to me now. He taught me handyman skills and proper lawn mowing techniques and made sure I knew that when buying products, to always buy the top of the line because, why would you buy anything less?!?!

My friends loved him too and still talk about the fries and enormous salads, the movie collection where you could find almost any movie you wanted on any given day and the best clown collection on the shelves. And he never spared them from his favorite question to younger generations, “what is your malfunction?”

He loved to remind me that his hair was silver, not gray, he could get a tan better than the one I worked on for weeks, just by walking to the mailbox, and told us all if we just stopped eating bread for 5 days, we could lose 7 lbs! 🙄

There are countless memories I don’t have room to write about here, but they’ll forever live in my heart and I’ll do my best to pass the stories on to my son, who Arees lovingly called, ZZ. A little boy he loved with his whole heart and who brought a little life back into the home he shared with my mom for 40 years.

Thank you, Arees, for being the best stepfather a girl could ask for, and for loving me and my boy so big. You will live in our hearts forever until we see you again! 🤍

Z’s 5th Bday! In addition to The Slime Factory (see previous post), we hit up Build-A-Bear, as it was conveniently located in viewing distance of The Slime Factory (jokes on us parents), then made our way to the carousel at North Point Mall (I thought they removed this years ago but was glad they didn’t). We ended the day with a small celebration at KK & Papa’s House. Such a fun day with my boy!

Took @zionbronx to The Slime Factory on his bday last week. I know I’m bias but he’s adorable in that lab coat! He had fun and I enjoyed staying out of the slime and just watching from behind the camera. Ha.

⚡️F•I•V•E⚡️ (06.16.26)

My strong-willed, full of energy, yet oh so lovable and sweet boy is ✋🏼 and I’m struggling. I say it all the time, as most of us do, but I truly don’t want my baby to grow up. I find myself trying to write everything down so I don’t forget it. From how he mispronounces certain words and sounds, to how he incorrectly uses other words in the cutest of ways, to questions he asks me and remarks he makes that blow my mind (because how can he know so many facts already?). I absolutely love his heart, mind and personality right now and I will mourn these young years sooner than I want to.

Zion Bronx, my Munchka, you’ve made me a better person and I thank God multiple times a day for choosing me to be your Mom. Life is so busy and work keeps me away from you more than I’d like, but the fun we have together is irreplaceable! You’re so incredibly intelligent and you’re keeping me young (I think….i hope…haha)! HAPPY 5th B-DAY, my handsome son! I love you the most! 💙
