A NIGHT FOR THE COFFEE COMMUNITY 💛

A special evening for Galway’s coffee community, bringing together people who share a passion for great coffee, good conversations and continuous learning.

From getting hands-on with La Marzocco machines to taking part in the Oatly Latte Art Throwdown, there was plenty to explore, learn and enjoy.

Our beautiful poster was hand painted by our co-producer Ari Belluardo @ari.annamoa_colorare

Previously shown during Druid’s season of new writing at the Mick Lally Theatre at Galway International Arts Festival 2018. Furniture is a collection of three short comedies by acclaimed Irish playwright Sonya Kelly, where 3 pieces of furniture reveal what 6 individuals value. Can you sit on Fine art? Is a filthy Lay-z boy a deal breaker? Succession of a chaise longue? Surely it can’t be that serious. Grab a seat just don’t take it home.

A co-production between emerging Galway-based theatre companies Miachara Productions and An Cladach Collective.

A flexible, multi-purpose space suitable for exhibitions, workshops, talks, launches, meetings, training days, community events, pop-ups, photography, filming, rehearsals and more.

The venue is available for single or multi-day events and longer-term projects, with rates tailored depending on the type and duration of use.

Whether you’re an artist, organisation, festival, business, community group or independent producer looking for a flexible city-centre space, we’d love to hear from you.

⚡Satellite Projects 2026 Residency : Open Call ⚡

Satellite Projects, in partnership with Galway City Council, invites applications for a 4-6 week artist residency taking place in Galway City between September and October 2025 to coincide with the launch of the new Project Space and Studios opening in Galway - click the link in our bio for full application form.

This residency provides artists with the time, space, and resources to develop new or experimental work within a supportive and professional environment.

The Residency Award Includes:

▪ Individual studio space for 4-6 weeks (depending on project timeline)

▪ Artist Fee & Production Budget

▪ Access to Satellite Projects' new gallery/project space for a short showcase, workshop, or public event

▪ Curatorial and logistical support throughout the residency, including studio visits

Eligibility:

Open to Galway-based artists - The residency is intended for emerging artists and those developing their practice who may not currently have access to a dedicated workspace.

Location:

Satellite Projects is based on Father Griffin Road in Galway City Center: a five-minute walk from the Spanish Arch, with easy access to shops, amenities, and the 401 bus route. The premises are secure and shared by six artists, offering Wi-Fi, WC facilities, a small canteen/common area, and extended access hours.

Timeline:

▪ Deadline: 4TH September 2025, 11:59 PM (GMT)

▪ Results Announced: 7th September 2025

▪ Residency Period: Sep – Oct ( Start mid late September / Can extend into Nov in some cases) 2026

A huge thank you to everyone who visited Satellite Projects during this year’s Galway International Arts Festival.

Over the past few weeks, more than 1.5k visitors came through our doors for AWASH by Ciarán MacChoncarraige. It was incredible to see so many people discovering the space for the first time, and we’re hugely grateful to everyone who came along, supported the and helped make our first inclusion in GIAF such a success.

With the festival now wrapped up, we’re excited to officially open Satellite Projects for venue hire.

Located in Galway city centre, Satellite is a flexible, multi-purpose venue available for exhibitions, workshops, talks, launches, meetings, training days, community events, pop-ups, photography, filming and much more.

Join us this Saturday for an artist talk and exhibition tour with photographer Ciarán MacChoncarraige, discussing AWASH, his current solo exhibition at Satellite Projects as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

Through a series of painterly and atmospheric street photographs, AWASH explores attention, place and the rhythms of urban life, using Galway City as its canvas. Ciarán will speak about the ideas, process and observations behind the work, followed by an opportunity for questions.

Join us on Sunday 12th July, 12-3pm, for the launch of Awash, a solo exhibition by Galway-based photographer Ciarán MacChoncarraige @ciaranshoots

Awash is a collection of street photography by Galwegian artist Ciarán MacChoncarraige, in which the camera is a salve for the deluge of modern life.

Painterly, expressionistic and vibrant, this work is an intimate, vivid portrait of the urban experience, using Galway City as a canvas. Obfuscating the human form with textured foregrounds and reflections, this work is abstractly documentarian - leaning aesthetically into the surreal, while still firmly rooted in street photography’s observationalist traditions.

Can keen observation lead to a sense of belonging? In the age of the ’attention economy’, what does it truly mean to pay attention?

Ciarán was awarded the inaugural Satellite Project Award through Outset Gallery’s OXO exhibition, selected from more than 400 open call submissions. This exhibition marks the culmination of that award, presenting an ambitious new body of work developed over recent years.
This exhibition also marks the official launch of Satellite Projects + Studios, a new artist-led studio, project space and venue in Galway City. Supported initially through Galway International Art’s Festival’s Elevate Award, Satellite Projects provides flexible space for exhibitions, performances, workshops, screenings, residencies and a wide range of cultural activity.
