Heilig Kreuz Kirche in Kreuzberg is a striking neo-Gothic landmark, built between 1885–1888, that survived wartime destruction and now thrives as both a spiritual and cultural hub in Berlin. Architecture: Designed by Johannes Otzen in neo-Gothic style with a central Vierungsturm. Originally 81 m tall, the rebuilt tower now measures 59.3 m.

- Foundation stone laid in 1885, inaugurated in 1888 with Kaiser Wilhelm II and Auguste Viktoria present.
- Severely damaged during WWII, rebuilt in simplified form between 1951–1959.

At Berlin’s Friedrichstraße station, a powerful bronze sculpture stands as a reminder of two starkly different journeys. Created by artist Frank Meisler, who himself was saved by the Kindertransport, the memorial depicts two groups of children: one looking forward with hope, symbolizing those rescued and given life; the other marked by despair, representing those deported to their deaths.The contrast is haunting—innocence caught between salvation and tragedy. In the bustle of the station, this monument compels passersby to pause, reflect, and remember the choices that shaped countless destinies during the Holocaust.
